Remarks

The college has a very good academic curriculum and excellent faculty. The food is decent and the hostel facilities are average. Placements are excellent and the alumni network is awesome. There are a lot of events held on campus and options to pursue extracurricular activities besides academics.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is up-to-date and is top-notch. Most courses promote free-thinking and a case-based pedagogy is largely adopted. Students work individually and in groups to solve cases and these are later taken up for discussion in class. In the first year, all 180 students have the same subjects, however, in the second year, students are allowed to take up electives of their choice.

Placement Experience

5

Placements of the college are excellent with a large number of recruiters visiting the campus regularly. The three main placement processes are the Summer Internship Placement(SIP), the Lateral Placements and the Final Placements (CRP). The SIP happens in the first or second term, whereas the CRP and LRP happen in the second year.

College Events

3

There are a huge number of events celebrated in XLRI Jamshedpur. There are several committees on campus including co-curricular committees, functional committees and extracurricular committees. Each of these committees has its own flagship events. Apart from these, they also hold other events on a regular basis. Talk sessions, case competitions and workshops etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Educational Loans are available to cover the expenses at XLRI. Typically, upon receiving the call letter from XLRI, one is contacted by a number of banks. Getting the loan sanctioned is a very easy process and is hassle-free. I availed the Student Loan Facility from SBI XLRI branch, which is just outside the campus gates.

Campus Life

3

The gender ratio at XLRI Jamshedpur is better than at most other B-Schools. The batch has over 40% of females and has students from various parts of India. There is also a great amount of diversity with respect to the number of years and fields of work experience. There are lots of opportunities for pursuing sports on campus.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel fee for the first year is 75,000 and the second year is 80,000. For PGDHRM students there are five hostels. Three are on the old site of the campus and two are in the newer part of the campus. The hostels are separate for genders and include their own messes. Each student is allotted a single occupancy room, with a bed, a shelf, a table, a chair, light, fan, charging and Lan ports.

Alumni/Alumna

XLRI Jamshedpur is well known for its unique 3-batch culture. Students interact across batches and juniors have an excellent rapport with seniors. The alumni from the HR Batch are placed in top leadership positions and the alumni network is huge.

Admission

I qualified for XLRI Jamshedpur through the XAT 2019 exam. After clearing the exam, I received a call for GD, PI and WAT processes. Subsequently, I got a direct convert for the PGDHRM course from XLRI.

Faculty

4

The faculty here at XLRI Jamshedpur is very well qualified and most experts in their respective domains. That being said, they also have very good cross-domain knowledge. Professors have very good knowledge of the industry and are often called as consultants to companies. Most of the faculty are greatly approachable and are very enthusiastic in clearing doubts of students.

Placement Experience:

There is just one word for placements - superb. The name XLRI is a brand in itself and recruiters are going to line up and fight for a slot to hire from campus. So placement should be the least of anyone's worries while visiting. The best names in management consulting such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain as well as in Investment Banking such as JPMC and Goldman Sachs visit every year. Be it FMCGs, fintech firms, product management roles, anything, and everything is available. Not even a single student goes unplaced. The median and average packages are both close to 24 lacs per annum.
