Remarks

The college management can get a bit time consuming at times. A student (even passouts!) of JU will always have the worst of things to say about KMR (The cash section of the University). But the departmental management is pretty efficient and fast.

Entrance Preview

In ISC I had scored a very okay-ish 83%which was not at all taken into consideration when you are taking the admission test for Comparative Literature in Jadavpur University. For the entrance I had scored a 78 out of 100. I did choose Jadavpur University because, well,it has always been the kind of college I would identify myself with. There is art and music all around. It is the most liberal places you can be at. Adding to that,Comparative Literature is such a course that is not easily available in other universities. Jadavpur Universityis among the few who provides it with the most elite faculty. It ranks amiong the top 5 colleges proving a course in Comparative Literature at the undergraduate level.

Internships Opportunities

No. Our college does not provide internships in our department, but it does provide in the Engineering departments. The stipends vary from company to company or they might just end up with a certificate.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements mainly occur in the Engineering Departments. Companies ranging from ZS Associates,TCS,Goldman Sachs,Amazon,Microsoft and so on and so forth, provide placements to the students after a series of tests they clear.

College Events

5

The most happening fest in town, Sankskriti is organised by Jadavpur University. Colleges from all over are invited to take part in the extravaganza. Apart from this, there are quizzes and street plays every now and then. Each club organizes events once in a year. Photowalks by the Photography Club are done one in two months, along with exhibitions. Fresher welcome by the Union is as grand as any fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very very feasible. They charged an entire amount of Rs.1250 for my own admission which includes admission fee and the tuition fee for 12 months and all the other fees like, library and campus development. In a nut shell, it is negligible. Hostel facilities are provided to students who are not from the state or really far off. The accommodation is good but not good enough. And the food, like every other hostel, is not that great.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many undergraduate and post-graduate level courses are available to the students outside the department which does provide the option of a scholarships. JU being a Government college is not very expensive. Loan facility is one area,I am not sure of.

Campus Life

3.5

JU is known to be the hub of the most talented students. Campus life is a ten on ten when it comes to JU. Starting from the graffiti on the walls from the green lush of the green Zones. From the staircases of Worldview to the Cold Coffee at Staff canteen. It is fun to eve walk around and enjoy everybody around. The students are not majorly from the state itself, but also far and wide from the North-East to the South! It is diverse and yet so unified. Every department comes up with very creative extra curriculars. Each and every month has alteast three to four events already packed up. Apart from these, there are various clubs like the Drama Club, Music Club and the Photography Club which is open to all. They are the most active participators when it comes to fests and other competitions.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are not as mean as we think they are. Personally,I have always got all the help required from them. From notes to treats at the college canteen! They are fun and amazing to talk to. Owing to the enormity of Jadavpur University, there are so many people you could come across, the atmosphere is always happy. Quite contrary to what people think,Jadavpur University is always the node of commotion and protests. We are united and always will be. There is not sharp distinction between the current students and the pass outs, everybody is like a small family within JU. The re-unions seem more like a party rather than pass outs forming a group within themselves.
