One of best colleges of Lanka for Arts and Commerce

I did my B.A. Philosophy from Lanka Mahavidyalaya, it was a very pleasant experience for me. The teachers were quite good and the facilities provided were also amazing, being a sportsperson I was also supported by college and helped in academics by colleagues and seniors. The college is overall good including academics but needs a bit more focus on infrastructure.

Lanka Mahavidyalaya is provided affiliation by Gauhati University, and so strictly follows the rules, guidelines, and syllabus drafted by Gauhati University. For the course I did - B.A. Philosophy, it follows a yearly based evaluation scheme and so examinations are held on a yearly basis. College also holds internal examinations timely other than regular class tests.

There was no scholarship scheme provided by the college directly at my time, but you can contact the faculty regarding the scholarships. Other than college scholarships, you can apply for district or state level scholarships like Central National Scholarship or District merit Scholarship as per your eligibility for it. You can gain further information on scholarships from the college office.

The college has a well-equipped library with books, journals, and newspapers of all the subjects and context required by students in their academic session. The library has two seating areas, for students and teachers separately. The college also has good computer and science labs which are well maintained and there is also a gym in the college for hostelers, as well as day scholars.

The college has a good hostel for students from outside the locality. The hostel occupancy is good and the food served is also healthy for students residing in the hostel, rooms are also quite spacious and comfortable.

The senior students are quite helpful and we had a wonderful and memorable freshers' party arranged by them for us. They also help in academics by providing notes, and some of them also help really a lot by guiding and providing us helping us in studies.

I got admission in Lanka Mahavidyalaya on the basis of my 12th aggregate, I scored a 78% aggregate in my HSC. Lanka Mahavidyalaya had criteria for a minimum of 50% in HSC, so I got through easily and got admission to the college for B.A. Philosophy. There was less documental work I had to do, making it hassle-free and I was just asked for my HSC mark sheets and a few other documents to complete my admission process to ensure my enrollment for the course.

The faculty of my department was pretty good and friendly. Guest lectures are also held by colleges from outside or invited people. Our teachers were always up for providing any guidance we needed in any field. The teachers were also well qualified and well versed with the subjects of their interest. They also worked hard with the brilliant of the students to help them excel in their academics.
