Remarks
The college could improve in terms of fests and extracurricular activities. Apart from this factor, everything else is perfect. The academics is arguably the best in India. Additionally, there are barely any restrictions on students, no curfews, no dress code - nothing as long as you do your work. There are also 4 messes with different kinds of food.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is excellent. For starters, we directly start out with programming in the first semester unlike a lot of other colleges which have a bit of all branches of engineering to be studied in the first year. Assignments are made specially hard and tedious, but you learn a lot from them. There is a significant difference between a first year in my college and most other colleges, including IITs and NITs. Curriculum is also updated according to new trends (the recent curriculum has Machine learning and Internet of Things courses in the second year itself). A lot of professors are exceptionally good at their field. There are four sets of exams - 2 small quizzes, one mid semester exams and one end semester exam.
Placement Experience
Placements are excellent. Most students apply for offshore internships. I am in a year where everyone is applying for internships, and I already know people who have internships in Facebook London, Google, Microsoft etc. There are also research internships available here. I did an internship after my first year here, and got paid around 15k per month.
College Events
Events are not too frequent. The major one is Felicity, the college fest. There are food stalls, music performers, EDM night, various competitions (programming, maths, quizzes, debates etc). Some other significant events include music events like Unplugged where students (and sometimes faculty) perform.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. It's a small college with not too many facilities (mainly because Gachibowli stadium is nearby) and is fairly cheap. Additionally there are scholarships and loans provided to students for whom it's not feasible.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The college has several scholarships and loan facilities for underprivileged students. Any scholarship is directly emailed to all students promptly. Our college is applicable for Pragati and Saksham scholarship scheme under AICTE and many more. I have not availed any.
Campus Life
Extracurricular activities are a bit lacking (hence my title), but they are catching up. Sports is not too bad, we have a very highly reputed hockey player as our coach. Physical education is compulsory in the first two years. Even though inter college participation is still less, it is definitely picking up. Extracurricular activities is also improving, there has been recent activities by our quiz club and dance club. Our entrepreneurship cell is also very active and they conduct Megathon annually, the city's largest hackathon. Labs are good, with good technology.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel infrastructure is good. The hostel I live in is newer, so it's much more cleaner, has well working washing machines, clean regularly maintained toilets and rooms etc. Cleaning staff is present and they regularly clean the corridors and rooms.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students and alumni are incredibly helpful. All you have to do is ping them on facebook, and more often than not, they reply back with proper detailed answers to any query you may have, however simple. There are also alumni meets held, and I know people who have gotten internships after connecting with alumni.
Admission
This is one form of admission called DASA based on SAT scores. I got in through the SATs. I got 800/800 in each of Physics, Chemistry and Maths 2 in SAT 2 and 1490/1600 in SAT. A list of the top scorers in SATs is prepared and they are given admission according to their preference.
Faculty
Most of the faculty is excellent. They are clear on the subject they are teaching, and in addition they do a lot of research in a certain specialization and they are very good at it. Additionally, the faculty is easy to approach, ask doubts to etc.
