Pondicherry University, Port Blair Campus

It is located in port Blair, the capital city of the Andaman Islands. Apart from being extremely good for sight seeing,the college encourages us to go out & explore the area as my field of study requires first hand experience.

It was semester wise with choice based credit system, which i feel is a very good choice. We could choose a subject of our choice for 3 semesters & the 4th had dissertation hence, no additional subject. The exam pattern was straightforward & simple with theory & practicals for each paper

Internships are not provided but they do help in recommendations. Job placements are very good as we are equipped with practical knowledge required for our field. We mostly prefer to work with wildlife instituitions & NGOS & the college helps us with recommendations & interviews.

We have an annual fest called Anekaragam in which competitions are conducted ranging for literary to cultural to serious as well as silly sports. Apart from this, minor programs such as debates & JAMs are regularly conducted.

Extremely feasible fee structure. As it is a national university & admission is dome on the basis of merit & ranks in the entrance exam, nominal fees are collected from the students & maximum facilities such as labs & library are provided to the students.

The college accepts the government sanctioned scholarships. They also provide a scholarship for every single girl child. Apart from this, all the students get a stipend of Rs 1000. The top 3 ranking students get an extra scholarship of Rs 1500, 1000 & 5000 each.

Updated as well as well furnished labs that contain the latest equipment as PhD is also offered. Also, there are more than 5 labs ,hence it becomes easier to work & share the lab timings & practical work.

Hostel facility is available for which only the cost of the food has to be borne by the students. The fees for the hostel rooms are also very feasible. Gym, football & tennis court along with a big ground are also available for leisure. The hostel has an attached mess, which is a student run mess & hence the food is of the choice of the students.

Extremely helpful alumni & senior students. they are always available to help us out both on campus & after graduation. They help us with securing jobs by informing us of openings as well as share the experience they gained from their jobs.

An online entrance test was conducted & the merit list was released. This comprised of 2 lists, merit list & waitlist based on the respective ranks. I was in the wait list as my rank was all India 27. They then call for certificate verification & allot seats based on rank & availability

Extremely knowledgeable as well as supportive faculty who strive to maintain a rich & conducive environment for the students. All the professors are double PhD holders & hence impart a very high quality of knowledge to the students.thwu are also very encouraging of on site experience.
