Remarks

College is good but the fees is a little too high and the state quota lowers it's quality as panjabis with low score gets better branch then others. The internet speed here is very bad and there is no night live here.

Course Curriculum Overview

Exam structure is divided into 1 odd semester and 1 even semester each having a Mid Semester. Odd semester is in December and even semester is in April. Mid semesters are in September and February. Syllabus is provided at the beginning of the semesters.

Placement Experience

Placements are really good in thapar. The average package is around 7 lakh per annum INR. Highest package goes around 40-45 lakhs. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft , Adobe etc gives placement offers here. College do provide internships. I'm going on an internship to Indonesia by AISEC.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very expensive. Overall one have to spend around 20 lakhs to pay tuition fees, hostel and mess fees excluding any extra expenses bore by the students which include stationary, daily items , travelling or eating out.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarship facilities here. If you score more then 8.5 GPA and are in top 10 percentile of your batch then you are entitled to get scholarship upto 1 lakh per annum. Bank easily give loan to study in this college especially SBI and ICICI bank.

Campus Life

Extracurricular activities are good here. We have well made, sperate grounds for football, cricket , hockey and courts for lawn tennis , badminton, volleyball,basketball and table tennis. There are societies which help students in horning their skills and labs are well equipped.

Hostel Facilities

I opted for Hostel-B. Infrastructure is fine but facilities are not upto mark. WiFi speed is very bad. Mess is good. There are 3 lawns in hostel, a table tennis room, reading room and a canteen which opens during evening and night.

External Expense: Rs.7000 - Rs.10000

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is really good here as many are placed in top companies like Amazon , Google, Microsoft, Flipkart ,Adobe etc. The interaction between seniors and first year students is rare. Alumni network are helpful to get into good companies.

Admission

I first gave IIT-JEE mains and I got admission based on my all India rank. I had to apply the online form of Thapar after the results and then came to campus to verify my documents and got the admission letter.

Faculty

The faculty is good and experienced. Tutorial are taken by PDH students. Lectures are taken by professors with experience of more then 15-20 years. Labs are taken by PHD students and a lab incharge. Professors are highly Knowledgeable.

Likes

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

Dislikes

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

Likes

good infrastructure , large libraries and practical labs
helpful and large opportunities in campus

Dislikes

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Inside NITJ- Beyond the Brochure

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

I like the machines that's why I choose the mechanical branch in engineering line. Noida , Gurgoan , Chandigarh , Bengluru and many other areas for improvements in the course curriculum and teaching methods.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

I applied for VIT and SRM but didn't take admission due to poor quality of placements and peer group. I am from the General Outside Punjab quota.
