Remarks
The college is run by monks so there are strict weird rules that we have to follow like attending prayers etc. or there is a good chance of getting indefinite suspension or TC. The college does not allow smartphone or laptop or any other electronic gadgets which makes it impossible to study something new or get help from internet and it makes the college not suitable for a computer Science degree at all despite the brilliant faculty.
Course Curriculum Overview
As the college is autonomous so the course is chosen by our faculty abd they did a great job at it. The honours course teaches us more than everything we need to know as a undergraduate student. The math and statistics general classes provides support excellent support for the honours course. There are two semester in year. Each semester has a mid-semester exam and an end semester exam.
Placement Experience
The college syllabus and faculty provides great support for further study in the subject in great institutions. It is not for getting job directly after the undergraduate degree. College does not provides internship. Though it encourages us to take an internship but its difficult due to its rules and infrastructures.
College Events
Lots of events takes place in the college during each year. Annual table tennis , football and cricket competitions between departments. Annual drama competition between 4 hostels. The college also celebrates teachers day and birthdays of the monks by whose name the 4 hostels are named. The collge celebrates the birthday of Ramakrishna by feeding more than 10000 poor people for free.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is extremely feasible. At the time of admission we have to pay around 25000 and after that 2900 each month. And we have to pay around 15000 annually. The 2900 rs per month includes tution fees, library charges, hostel fees and food.
Fees and Financial Aid
If one can prove that they are poor the college decreases the fees according to the financial condition. Nearly 50% students don't pay the original fees and 15% studies for free. This college is made for poor people to get a chance at higher education.
Campus Life
The college highly supports extracurricular activities. There is a gym, a swimming pool and huge playground for playing football, cricket and other sports. There are table tennis courts in each of the hostels.
Hostel Facilities
This is a Residential college so hostel is compulsory. The hostel infrastructure is moderate. 4 students live in a room which is not large enough. There is only one tubelight in the room which can be used from 5.00 pm to 11.00 pm everyday. The time of power outages there are backup power support for the light. Each hostel has atleast one study hall dedicated for students which has lights all the time. The authorities does not allow us to have smartphone or laptop or any other electronic gadgets and expects us to attain a 30 minute prayer twice a day dressed in 'dhuti , panjabi and uttariya'.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are extremely helpful. If we ran into any problem the seniors helps us in everyway they can. The alumni network is not that helpful as it is difficult to make contact. But if needed they help us to choose correct path in our career.
Admission
I filled up the admission form from the college website and then took the entrance exam. The result of the entrance exam and marks of higher secondary exam reduced to 50 were added to make the merit list. My name was on the list so i got selected to be a student here.
Faculty
The best thing about my college is the faculty. Most of the teachers are excellent at teaching and helping us understand the subject. We can ask any doubt we have and they also encourage us to do something outside our syllabus which may help us in the future.
