Entrance Preview

Entrance exam: IIT JEE 2012 Rank in entrance exam: 3234 AIR I chose IIT Kharagpur as it is the first IIT and also in my home state West Bengal. I had to choose Metallugy because of my rank in entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is quite easy. We have to attend only 23 hours classes per week.

Internships Opportunities

I did intern in JSL. It gave me an industrial experience of how things are manufactured in industry as compared to lab scale in laboratory.

Placement Experience

The placement% for my department is about 80% every year excluding students opting for higher studies. Average salary is about 6 lpa.

College Events

Two main college fests are there. Spring Fest is a socio cultural fest. Students from various colleges visit IIT Kharagpur to view this fest. Kshitij is a technical fest. Students of various colleges participate in this.

Fees and Financial Aid

MCM for students whose parents gross annual income is below Rs 4 lakh per annum. Such students are waived of their tuition fees of rs 450000 per semester.

Campus Life

Campus is not in a proper city. So not many places to visit. Gender ratio is very scarce 10:1 (boys:girls). Almost students of all linguistic groups are present here. Plenty of extracurricular activities. Lots of societies are there. We have world class quality laboratories worth crores of rupeesThere is Robotics society, Debating society.

Hostel Facilities

Upto 3rd year doule sharing room is given. In fourth year single room is given. Hostel charge Rs 8250 per semester. We are given 100 MBPS LAN in hostel.Mess charges are Rs 11000 per semester. Food is just ok.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is maintained through a society maintained by students. Every year alumnies are invited to college.

Placement Experience:

Eligibility for placement is from 3rd year,with tier 1 companies visiting like Google, Amazon along with mass requiters like TCS, Capgemini, Wipro etc.Last year heights placement package was 72LPA offered to 15 students and average was 2-3 LPA.

Okay college and decent placement

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is same as all low 3 tier colleges which is nearly 4-5 lpa average salary given by mass recuitor companies .The companies are infosys , ltimindtree , accenture , ibm , capgemini , cognigent , etc .The placement rate is nearly 60 to 70 percent.

Heritage Institute of Technology: A Detailed Observation

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for campus placements from third year that is after 5th semester. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and IBM are amongst the mass hirers. Almosy 80 percent of the students get placed every year and the top 10 percent of the students receive high paying job offers. The average package is around 4.86 LPA and in 2023, the highest package was 16 LPA and in 2022, the highest package was 44 LPA. Talking about my future plans, I wish to pursue my masters abroad after completing my undergraduate course here.

Other colleges I applied for is IIT Delhi because it is nearer to my home and is well reputed college and have a great field in Tech.I opt this college because I am interested in Tech field.
