Well, that's a great question! I was part of the second batch of the Forensic Department at Amity. I completed my MSc. in Forensic Science from 2006 to 2008. While I'm not up-to-date on how the department is doing now, I can share my experience.
In the first month of my course, I considered switching because I felt uncertain about job prospects in India. However, the Head of Department at that time provided valuable guidance, suggesting I focus on cyber forensics, which is a growing field. I took that advice and am now working as a security consultant.
I secured a job before my course ended, but that’s not the case for everyone. It’s crucial to know what you want to do—no matter how small or seemingly irrelevant it may seem to the current situation.
So, think about what you want to achieve with a B.Sc. in Forensic Science. This course is just a stepping stone to what you’re truly aiming for.
The course is well-designed, and Amity offers numerous opportunities to work with various government forensic departments. Many students have secured internships with CFSL of India.
Good luck! Make sure to think from the heart!
LPU is an excellent choice for pursuing a B.Sc in Forensic Science! LPU offers a three-year B.Sc Forensic Science program. This program covers both theoretical and practical aspects of criminalistics, equipping students with essential laboratory skills in areas like forensic molecular biology, forensic chemistry, and toxicology.
Key features of the program include:
The curriculum provides in-depth knowledge in forensic chemistry, forensic toxicology, forensic anthropology, ballistics, explosives, forensic biology, serology, DNA analysis, fingerprinting, questioned documents, and cyber threats. Research areas include the analysis of drugs using both conventional and modern techniques.
LPU’s B.Sc in Forensic Sciences seems to offer a more robust placement opportunity compared to Amity University Noida’s B.Sc (Hons.) Forensic Science. LPU claims a 100% placement rate with packages ranging from 7 lakhs to 1 crore, plus they start placement training early in the program. In contrast, Amity's highest package is 3 crore, but the average is lower at 20-25 lakhs, with about 70% placement success.
If you prioritize better job prospects and placement support, LPU might be the better option, especially with its comprehensive curriculum that includes practical crime scene investigation. However, if you’re looking for a more balanced educational experience with strong extracurriculars, Amity could also be a good choice. Ultimately, if your main goal is to land a high-paying job in forensics, I’d recommend LPU.
Hi Rikhil, The B.Sc. program at Amity is quite good. However, I can't comment on the faculty since each campus has its own pros and cons. But don't worry about placements! They are centralized and not specific to any campus.
Thanks!
LPU B.Sc Forensic Sciences has a more budget-friendly campus life with a strong emphasis on extracurricular activities and a good faculty-to-student ratio, which I really appreciate for personal attention. They claim 100% placement with impressive salary packages, but Amity University Noida’s B.Sc (Hons.) Forensic Science offers a more rigorous curriculum that includes hands-on crime scene investigation and has higher average placement packages, making it very appealing for career prospects. If you want a vibrant campus life and a supportive environment, LPU might be your pick, but if you're aiming for high-end placements and a strong academic focus, then Amity University Noida is the better choice. Personally, I would lean towards Amity for its academic rigor and placement opportunities.
