You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The key factor that kept me connected with the education sector was my passion for teaching, constant learning, upskilling and learning current trends in my field and exchange of experience between teachers. One very important aspect is educating the youth i.e., we are empowering the future.


What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My philosophy of leadership is to inspire the faculty so that growth can be fostered. My leadership style includes supporting my departmental faculty and students who depend on us for their goals, coaching, delegating work, following smart instructional methods, focussing on curriculum, teamwork approach, communicating objectives and transforming short-term goals into long-term goals.


How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?

We have a curriculum and syllabus from M.D. University, Rohtak. Our college is continuously working towards meeting learning objectives through smart teachings, fostering critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills according to the latest trends and needs through various operational clubs and cells.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

University’s top priority over the next 10 years should be student at the core of the globalised world. To achieve this, we have to educate and empower youth through a sound education system with humanitarian values with a clear and time-bound vision to achieve the goals of NEP 2020.

When you first came to your institute, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

My vision of the university when I first joined the college was to empower students to fulfill their academic and professional passions that are diverse, welcoming and inclusive for all students, faculty and staff. Creating innovative connections among education, humanities, music, social sciences, science and health science. To achieve student success, alumni achievement, faculty and staff excellence. Yes, It has evolved since then and is in line with the vision. 


What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

People should know its historical background. M.D. University, Rohtak, Haryana established in 1976 and named after Saint Dayanand Saraswati. It has 100 colleges under it. It is NAAC-Accredited A+ Grade university ranked 1st in Swachhta ranking in 2018, ranked 1st in sports Haryana, 236 + programs, 2 lacs+ students. The university aspires to be a leading transformative learning community recognized worldwide for excellence in teaching, research and service & as a catalyst for intellectual, social, cultural, moral and economic development.


What do you see as the University’s greatest strengths?

Our University promotes interdisciplinary higher education and research in the fields of environmental, ecological, life sciences and other sciences and has been ranked first amongst the cleanest higher educational institutions in the country.


What are some of the major changes that COVID-19 has brought in the education sector according to you?

COVID-19 brought changes in the education sector and the major change was digital learning which worked as a catalyst for the educational institution to grow and opt for platforms and techniques that have not been used before.


Are there any placement opportunities for the students?

The placement cell of our college helps students with job opportunities by organizing recruitment drives, sharing job openings, and providing career guidance via seminars and webinars. The cell helps connect students with potential employers and helps them prepare for interviews and resume building. The College also organizes workshops on the latest programs for enhancing the skills of students.


How is your relationship with the students of your college?

Relationship with the students is positive which fosters positive social interaction and establishes a nurturing environment of trust and support. Slow learners are given special attention. Fast learners are given opportunities for their growth in academics and extra-curricular activities.

What are the most important functions in the role that you play in your institute?

Throughout my teaching period since 1990, besides teaching, I discharged my duties as NSS program officer, women cell convener, and Youth Red Cross convener. I was on the UG board of studies of Home Science in M.D. University, Rohtak. Convener, Youth Zonal Festival, M.D.U, Coordinator NAAC and HOD (Home Science), Besides, all the duties assigned were carried out, Further, also was member of various committees like IQAC, Advisory purchase etc. Also was the coordinator of Add courses in ECCE and Fashion designing (Certificate+Diploma)


What are the challenges faced as a part of your institute?

One major challenge faced in the college is the old syllabus that is not in alignment with the rapidly evolving job market and industry demands. It is important for universities to regularly update their curriculum/syllabus to equip students with the most relevant skills and knowledge. This ensures that students are well-prepared for the ever-changing professional landscape.


How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?

To create a healthy environment in our institute, we can promote student well-being by organizing wellness activities, providing counselling services and encouraging a work-life balance. It's also important to have clear policies against bullying and discrimination. Let's make our institute a positive and nurturing space for everyone!


Any suggestions/messages that you would like to give to the current youth?

My suggestion for the current youth is to embrace lifelong learning. In this fast-paced world, it's crucial to continuously upgrade our skills and knowledge. Stay curious, explore new opportunities, and never stop seeking personal and professional growth. By being adaptable and open to learning, they can thrive in any situation and create a bright future for themselves.
