West Bengal MBBS Admission 2024 is conducted by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kolkata. West Bengal admission will be done based on the NEET resultWest Bengal MBBS admission 2024 has 85% of seats reserved for state candidates and the remaining 15% is for all Indian candidates. 

West Bengal MBBS admission 2024 counselling rounds are ongoing. Candidate verification for stray vacancy round is being done from October 28 – 29, 2024. Choice filling is scheduled for October 30, 2024.

West Bengal MBBS Admission 2024: Selection Process

Candidates can view the admission requirements for West Bengal MBBS 2024 below – 

  • 15% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats: Admission to 15% of AIQ seats in West Bengal medical/dental institutes will be granted through NEET 2024 counselling. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct NEET UG counselling for 15% of AIQ seats based on NEET 2024 rank.
  • Central/Deemed Universities: In addition to 15 percent AIQ seats, MCC will offer admission to all deemed and central universities in the state through NEET 2024.
  • Admission to the remaining 85 percent of MBBS/BDS seats under the state quota will be granted through West Bengal NEET 2024 counselling.
  • Private colleges: Under West Bengal MBBS admission 2024, the authority will fill 100 percent of seats in the state's private colleges based on NEET UG rank.

West Bengal MBBS Admission 2024: Application Form

  • To register oneself for counselling. Candidates can visit the official website of the government of West Bengal Department of Health and Family Welfare West Bengal.
  • Registration: Candidates will be able to register for the West Bengal MBBS and BDS admission process by filling in NEET 2024 Roll No., Application No., Date of Birth, and Security Pin. Along with this, candidates will have to provide their contact details (mobile numbers and email IDs) to receive the login credentials to their counselling profiles.
  • Declaration: All candidates are required to submit a digital declaration by ticking the box given at the end of the registration page. It asks the candidates to declare that they meet all the required eligibility criteria and will be providing authentic information.
  • Domicile: Candidates will have to clarify whether or not they are the domicile holders of West Bengal by clicking on either yes or no and submitting the form. Those who are non-domicile holders will only be eligible to take admission under the management quota seats and such candidates will only be required to submit the necessary documents once they have secured a seat at any private medical or dental institute.
  • Filling Student Category: Candidates will also be required to specify the category under which they are applying for admission, i.e. General, SC, ST, OBC, and PH. PH students will have to mention the percentage of their disability and must submit a certificate issued by IPGMER Kolkata.
  • Print Online Slip: Domicile holders and non-domicile holders will be issued different online slips that will specify the time, date, and venue of the document verification round. Candidates will have to take a printout of this slip for reference and the authentication process
  • Payment: Once all the details are filled in, candidates will be redirected to the payment page and candidates will be able to pay the West Bengal MBBS application fees through internet banking, credit, or debit card. Once the payment is done, a transaction ID will be displayed on the screen.

West Bengal MBBS Admission 2024: Counselling Process

Following is the counselling procedure:-

Step 1: Candidates must register themselves https://wbmcc.nic.in/pg/HomePage.aspx 

Step 2: For New Registration, click on the dashboard page of MBBS admission and 'Sign Up' and fill up the credentials.

Step 3: After login, enter roll no. and password.

Step 4: Then, after filling up the details like Name, Father Name, and Mother Name, pay the counselling fee.

Step 5: Lastly, avail the choice locking facility and wait for the release of Seat Allotment result.

  • 85%seat is reserved for State candidates and 15% seat is reserved for all Indian candidates. 
  • The Number of seats in the MBBs course has been increased to 4,000 in West Bengal with the addition of 250 seats in two medical colleges.

Ans. Follow the steps below to download and verify slip generation

Ques. How are the Mopup seats allotted?

Ans. After Round 1 and Round 2 of the allotment process. Manual Centralized seat allotment based on the Vacant and Non allotted eligible list is done at the college level. That is the process is offline.

Ques. Currently what stages of admission are going on? 

Ans. Tentative dates for the schedule for various rounds of the process are mentioned on the official website.

Ques. How many attempts are permitted for NEET?

Ans. There is no restriction on the number of attempts permitted for NEET. According to NTA, A candidate can appear for NEET as many times as he /she needs to qualify the examination. But to apply a minimum of 17 age is required.

Ans. For the batch of 2023-24, the first installment is Rs.17.80 Lakhs. The remaining installments add up to Rs. 70,88,500. This includes tuition and other fees.  So, for your medical degree, you’ll be paying around Rs. 88,68,500. This is for Indian students. You will be paying the fees in 5 installments. You’ll also be paying a caution deposit of Rs.10,000 (refundable). Their daily schedule looks like this  8 am to 11 am: Lectures 11 am to 1 pm: Anatomy dissection hours 1 pm to 2 pm: Lunch break 2 pm to 4:30 pm: Practicals In the evening some prefer playing basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, and badminton while others order just napping or hitting the gym. Some music lovers go to the band room to play out various symphonies and musicals. A few artist students spend their time participating or practicing for fine arts competitions. September brings in a huge crowd of students from different colleges attending Spandan. It’s a 7 day intercollegiate cultural literary and sports extravaganza that makes the monotonous life of JIPMER students a bit vibrant. October witnesses the Jipmer premier league ied teams of girls and boys. There is also Curie Day which is the annual girls' hostel day celebration. The hostel is open for boys as well and girls perform dance and sing. After all this enjoyment, the exams begin and students are reminded of their primary goal.  January is usually spent at home. In February, students go to Pune for the fest at AFMC -‘Silhouettes’. March brings in the tension of the annual university examinations and everybody can be seen surrounded by books. The seniors organize a wonderful Holi celebration- a cultural night followed by gulaal in the morning to ensure that students don’t succumb to the stress. With this the most happening year, the first year comes to an end.  The subsequent years bring in additional tasks such as Research projects, voluntary teaching, quizzing, etc. Read more

Ans. One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision  Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.  Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.  If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life. Read more
