Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:50, which allows for decent individual attention. We have a groups of five with an assigned faculty as a mentor to help us progress. Most faculty members are approachable We usually have 2 main types of exams: internal assessments (2 per semester) and the end-semester university exams. The difficulty level depends on the subject, but with proper preparation, it’s manageable.

Campus Life

We have intrams a yearly cultural fest by our team dramatix and then nationwide technical event - Kriya Other than these we have events and workshops organised by each department and associations. We also have so many fun events and cultural fests to maintain a balance between academics and extracurriculars Our production department conducts prodothon Then we have sports day and hostel day

Campus Life

The campus Life is very joyful and very happening, no one will get bore with this campus Life. The university holds mainly 2 fests one srijan(tech fest)and one Sanskriti which are held during the end week of March. The college is home to 2nd largest library in west bengal and has a variety of books those are not even available in the market. The classrooms are mostly air conditioned and clean and looking at the fees with is the best a man can get. The college also has sports qouta and students may apply with that certificate. Their are 2 major sports tournaments held at the campus one is uturn which is mainly for 1st years and another is arena which is for the whole departments. There are also many clubs like finance club, coding club, mountaineering club and many more and the students are open to choose any of these according to their passion.

Placement Experience

The placement of jadavpur University have been top notch all over the years. There were international offers in the year 2022,2023 and 2024 valueing upto 1.5cr. The students are eligible for the placement opportunities from the 4th year and Internships opportunities from the 2nd yr. The average package of Jadavpur University is nearly 12lpa and highest is of 1.5cr, the placement rates in branches like mechanical and civil is 100% and branches like CSE and production it is over 96%. If I talk about my plans , I am opting for an MBA after a two year job from graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview

Production Engineering is ideal for a student who wishes to take up a job in the core sector or wishes to pursue higher education (preferably MBA). Whether the curriculum really helps the student in real-world applications or further academic pursuits depend on whether the student wants to work in the core sector or the IT sector. I personally want to work in the IT sector, so for me, the curriculum will have no affect in my job performance. I'll have to take up courses elsewhere (online) and participate in events related to IT and entrepreneurship that take place in the university. The course curriculum cannot be improved since most of the students here joined because they were able to join JU and not because of a particular love for Production engineering. It's not what they wanted, it's what they got (based on their wbjee ranks). So an "individual student's goal based curriculum will not be possible". Timing and frequency of exams are based on the students' preferences and viewpoint

Placement Experience

On-campus placements are fairly good. Each course has different placement records. Overall, the highest package ever received from an off-campus placement was offered to Bisakh Mondal (a computer science student) with a package of 1.8 CrPA (crore per annum). This year (2024) it was from etce department, a package of 85 lpa(lakhs per annum). The placements vary but the average is nearly 10-11 lpa in my department and as high as 18-22 lpa in computer science engineering, Information technology and electronics and telecommunications engineering. The companies that visited production engineering in 2024 are tcs, shyam metallics, aditya birla century, hsbc, vedanta, linde, avanti fellows, adqura, TU-Delft, Jk paper, eveready, mjunction, tce, deloitte, jindal stainless, paapri cloud tech, varroc, tredence, zs associates, pwc, Bajaj auto ltd, protiviti, greyorange, tega industries, paharpur cooling towers etc. Some students have opted MTech and MBA and have not been placed thus. 95% placed.

Course Curriculum Overview

Jadavpur University's curriculum is designed to align with industry trends and emerging technology. The students get 2 months of gap during year ending for Internship or industrial training for work experience. The syllabus is accredited bya AICTE. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical applications. But it's essential to explore specific course outlines, faculty expertise and syllabus to make informed decisions.

Placement Experience

Placement of the university is very good. The placement process is very opened to all students. The Placement Coordinator is choosen from the students. So there is no place of scam. Many company came to hire employee students from the university. You can get international placement. Multinational company also come to hire employee. Such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Texas Instruments, AirBus and many more.

Course Curriculum Overview

I had chosen this course because I wish to work in the automotive industry and this department has a preference of studying everything related to multiple production industries. Since there is not a vast popularity of this department, year by year the admission of students decreased by 10 per year. So, the faculty-student ratio in a class is 1: respective class strength and the mentor-student ratio is 1:10. Qualification of the faculty is Masters in Mechanical Engineering and 3 faculties are completed/ongoing with their Ph.D.. Term exams are conducted for 1 hour 40 minutes. If you have studied well, you can pass at the first attempt itself, or else a retest will be conducted in the following week after the completion of term tests and improvement tests for those who can boost their first attempt test marks.

Campus Life

The annual fest is conducted at the end of every academic year by the 2nd week of March. Various events will be conducted and prizes are awarded to winners and runners. Tech fests are conducted by name symposium for every month and workshops for up to 2 days. Classrooms have their basic amenities like well-spaced and good air circulation. Sports day will be conducted prizes will be awarded and tournaments within college departments with all indoor and outdoor games. Currently, 23 clubs are available in our college and the cyber club is one of that.

Course Curriculum Overview

Since I chose Production Engineering it was totally about Mechanical stream's where we used to study about industries production management. this had a good scope on getting this graduation while entering into jobs mainly like Industries of many products. This Degree is currently available at only 4 colleges in Tamil Nadu including Madras Institute of Technology. If you get a chance to get into this college it would be a great achievement though since Dr.APJ ABDUL KALAM sir studied his M.E. Aeronautical Engineering at this MIT college located at Chennai. If you seek for faculties teaching method, then compared to other private colleges you would love to have those faculties with you for 4 particular years. They are so kind and humble and even friendly to students that they try to help you get knowledge on various aspects of these 8-semester engineering periods. for a strength of 61 students even 2 faculty is enough for both boys and girls to make them comfortable by giving enough exp.

Campus Life

There are more fests conducted for students which will be more interesting to come with friends and families. there is no charge for students who study here, only for outcomes do they make charges to view the fest. The library is a huge library present inside the college where more than 50 thousand+ books may be available to study in the future. Lights and fans available inside a classroom are enough for all the students to get enough comfortable. Sports and extracurricular activities include all sports which will be held outside the college compound which is known as the MIT annexure where there is a huge ground to play every ground sports where students have enough time to occupy without anyone's permission. there are organisations like NSS, YRC, NSO and even clubs like Tamil Mandram, Photo Society, MIT MET club, IOT club, MIT Quill, etc

Ques. What is the prospect of production engineering in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Himani Bose on 23 Mar 21

Ans. Many people think that production engineering is mechanical minus thermodynamics. Which is not true. Production engineering is completely different from mechanical as the subjects are different. My friend is currently in the 4th year of production engineering, NIT Trichy and according to him, it doesn’t really have a good prospect. Here’s why: While other departments have 6 subjects per semester you’ll be having 7. This can get quite hectic for you at times. Despite so much hard work, placements are not good at all. You will never be treated equally to your mechanical friends, however good your profile is. Although you can go into most of the mechanical engineering fields like automobiles, industrial tools making, etc. you will be paid lesser than your mechanical engineer mates. However, if you are planning for higher studies and research, then production is a very good choice. Being a production engineer opens up the manufacturing, industrial, and mechanical higher study options too. So, if placement after B.Tech. is your focus, please look elsewhere but if you are into higher studies then surely go for it. Choose wisely.Read more

Ques. How good is production engineering at BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Prithvi Shah on 16 Feb 21

Ans. The Production Engineering department at the Mesra campus, boasts of excellent facilities. A friend of mine recommended BIT Mesra as it is one of the best departments to opt for in BIT Mesra due to the following reasons:  The infrastructure here is great and boasts of well-equipped workshops and labs for forging, foundry, carpentry, welding, fitting, etc with all sorts of machinery. Most of the faculties here are very knowledgeable and will be helpful during your course. They make sure the subjects are understandable and interesting. Some of the topics are obsolete in today's world and you’ll need to update yourself as per current trends. The department organises Seminars and conferences regularly to keep students in trend with the industry. The workload is decently comparable when compared to other streams. So, if you can put some effort you can easily shine in the academics’ part. Placement wise although this department is not excellent you can try to be in the top 15 students in the batch so that you can grab good opportunities. Some of the top organizations such as Hero Moto Corp, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, NBC Bearings, Vedanta, AVTEC LTD, etc visit the campus for roles related to production engineering. Apart from the placement opportunities, many students opt to pursue higher education too. Some of the seniors are pursuing their higher education from top institutes like IIM’s etc. To grab better opportunities, it is good to brush some basics related to Mechanical engineering such as SOM, Thermodynamics, I.C Engines, etc. As some of the Mechanical companies allow the students from production engineering for their recruitment process too.  Here is some information about the institute:  Highest Package 49.76 LPA Average Package 11.76 LPA Fees 11. 57 Lakhs INR No. of seats 15 NIRF Ranking 38 (For engineering) So, if you are interested in production engineering and willing to put in some effort to be on the top you can definitely opt for Production Engineering in BIT Mesra.Read more

Ques. BIT Mesra CS or RVCE CS?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 09 Aug 23

Ans. My sister is in her 3rd year of engineering at CSE RVCE. Earlier, she was going for BIT Mesra considering its better ranking and reputation over RVCE. But a friend asked her to reconsider her decision because RVCE CS placements are much better and with enough coding skills and a good CGPA, you can easily secure a 20+ LPA package. Bangalore as a city offers a plethora of opportunities and options, especially the young enthusiasts.  The institute has an active start-up culture and many students become entrepreneurs after a few years m. The BIT tag is slowly losing its credibility and worth as the quality of education is deteriorating day by day Bangalore's location offers more learning opportunities than Ranchi  The crowd here is very diverse so you get to experience a diverse culture and a new way of living that helps in personality grooming. RVCE has a management quota too so you will be surrounded by both talented as well as average students. Overall, I feel RVCE will offer better opportunities because of its excellent location in contrast to Ranchi.Read more

Ques. How is production engineering at nit calicut?

● Top Answer By Shaurya Singh on 25 Mar 21

Ans. You must know what you are getting yourself into. The mechanical engineering department of NITC offers 2 BTech courses that are Mechanical and Production. Both of these departments share faculties, labs, some courses, and other facilities. But at the end of the day, both are different courses. There are two types of people seen in Production Engineering at NITC: Students who wanted to study mechanical, but didn’t have the rank for it or could only get mechanical at other NITs. Production is after all similar to mechanical. Students who didn’t have an appropriate rank to choose a branch/college of their choice, but still wanted to study in an NIT. There are few things that students commonly felt during their days: Students are often seen saying that they should get mechanical equivalent certificates. There is no purpose in saying this as they are two different branches. Students also complain that teachers are biased. Few teachers refrain from teaching students from production batches. Mechanical batches are taught mostly by permanent faculty while production batches get guest faculties. There are very few placement opportunities for Production batches in comparison with Mechanical. Core companies are even fewer. The students of Production are often isolated from other batches of students. They are allotted spare rooms. Categories Production Engineering at NIT Calicut Course Fee 5.42 lakh Placement Percentage 70-80% Highest CTC 8 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Tata, Bajaj, HPCL, BPCL, TCS, Texas Instruments, etc. The placement options are not as rare as students may make out, but it may not be in the field that they are looking for. So in the end one can say that, if the student truly wants to be a mechanical engineer, then this college probably isn’t for you. If they just want the NIT experience, then they should know what options they will have after college.Read more

Ques. How is the production and industrial engineering at DTU?

● Top Answer By Pranav Tigga on 14 Aug 20

Ans. Production and Industrial Engineering is a specialization branch of Mechanical Engineering. Most of the subjects are similar in both branches. DTU is a good college in India. Students securing decent JEE Mains rank are able to get admission in it. This branch has good prospects for the future in DTU. Most people are concerned about future prospects in the branch they choose. For production and industrial engineering at DTU, these prospects are good. Many companies that recruit mechanical engineers are also open to this branch. In today's world, most of the jobs are in the IT sector. These companies want people with certain skills. They do not care about the branch of their employees. DTU has a good coding culture. Most of the students practice computer programming. There are clubs and some groups of students who help their friends and juniors to learn skills. These skills help them to make a good resume to impress the recruiters. If one has an interest in working in core companies, then also they have a chance at DTU. If one maintains a good academic profile and an exceptional achievement record, he is sure to get a core job. This branch also includes learning of management skills which are very helpful. Students of this branch can also appear for GATE. This way they can get jobs at PSUs or complete M.Tech in this branch. The location of DTU is also a boon for the civil services aspirants. Delhi is known to have top coaching centers for civil service preparations. So the people aiming to crack UPSC can also opt for this college. Thus, if you see all advantages of opting for this branch in DTU, then it is quite a good option.Read more

Ques. Which is good for fire and safety engineering, NFSC Nagpur or CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Vivek Kumar on 12 Feb 21

Ans. Both the institutes are government institutes and provide best in class education when it comes to Fire and safety engineering. They offer good placement opportunities in government and private organizations with good packages. However, NFSC Nagpur might be the choice to go due to the following reasons. CUSAT: Let’s discuss CUSAT first.  The institute offers both fire and safety which includes more topics related to engineering courses which are very useful from a placements perspective.  CUSAT is both AICTE and NBA accredited so has a good curriculum. One of the downsides is that in CUSAT fire drills do not take place regularly which is required by some companies during the placement process. Even though it is a very famous college in South India and has a good placement record, the infrastructure is a bit old compared to NFSC Nagpur. The competition here for the Fire and Safety course is more and you need to have a good rank in the CUSATCAT. NFSC Nagpur: NFSC Nagpur has a course curriculum that is in line with the world’s top institutes with more focus given to physical standards and course syllabus. The institute focuses more on the fire drill process and physical fitness along with the academic part. It is a central government institute and provides the best placements for its students. The institute's alumni hold top positions in top fire organizations in India. The value of fire engineering here matches the IIT tag when it comes to fire engineering. It is very much necessary to have proper time management to align yourself with daily routines. All the hard work you put in will be reaped as many top companies including PSU’s come for recruitment here. BE in Fire course is a newly added one in this institute and competition is a bit less. The first few batches have passed with flying colors and have good placement records with the average package being around 10 LPA. Considering all the facts above it is safe to say that NFSC Nagpur is the best option of the two. It is a central Govt. college under the Ministry of Home Affairs and has a rich alumni network in major public and private organizations.Read more
