Faculty

At sliet longowal, faculty to student ratio generally hovers around 1:12 to 1:15, allowing for a decent amount of interaction, Faculties are highly qualified though approachability heavily varies by department, most are approachable for doubts if a student initiates. The faculty who are so humble and kind was Dr. Ajay Pal Singh Sir. In my college there are typically four exams per academic year. two minor and two end semester exams. the difficulty level is generally balanced and moderate. In subjects like mathematics most students get back or low marks. It should be prepared well. The curriculum is strictly structured as per AICTE and NEP policy

Course Curriculum Overview

SLIET longowal has well structured curriculum as per new education policy with well structured labs. to prepare for real world, college provide funds for startup and also motivate students to gain industry exposure. Many improvements can be done in curriculum like integration of cutting edge technologies, smart board, digital labs. There are three exams per semester two minors which take place in month of august and september and major or end sem exam in month of october, the timing of exam was from 1 pm to 4 pm. the difficulty level of exam is moderate

The fees has to be paid semester wise. In the first year the fees for the course was around 1700 per semester for boys whereas for girls it was around 750. In the second year of college the fees decreased to around 1500 per semester for boys whereas for girls it 750. Other scholarships are also provided by the college

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculum is old but still relevant to real life applications. Lab sessions are important for understanding concepts and applications of theory. In my course curriculum is enough for real life applications because I am from a circuital branch which requires good understanding of theory. Seminars and industrial visits can improve learning experience from a student's perspective. Exams are taken after every 1.5 month but if one has attended lectures then it becomes easy to score.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio for a particular batch can be 1:20. Faculties are very supportive and understanding. If one is being honest then they will surely help. GCP from mathematics department is very supportive. All faculties are good. Exams are taken after every 1.5 month. It is kind of difficult. Solving pyqs can be helpful for clearing exam. 15-20% students fail but then pass exams in remedial. Exam is designed according to relevance of course.

The campus placement are good enough if you want to take the advance of them. Many Indian origin as well as MNCs are available to apply for the placements from the college campus. Beside this college also provide off campus placement which is also a plus point in it. If you don't get placement then don't worry the degree has the value that if you are having skills then you can get job from outside also.

Ques. How are the placements for instrumentation and control branch in Vit pune?

● Top Answer By Pradeep Chowdhuri on 16 Oct 23

Ans. On average, out of the 80 students, only 65 students are eligible to sit for placements. Out of these, a few opt for higher studies so only around 50-55 are left for placements. The main core companies that visit VIT Pune are Emerson, Honeywell, and Tetra Pak. The number of recruitments can be understood through the points below Emerson recruits around 8 students. Honeywell recruits around 7 students. Tetra Pak taken in only 1–2. These companies offer an average package of around 5 . 5 LPA. So around 20–25 students will be placed in core companies and other students have to opt for IT companies. To get good offers, you need a CPI above 8.5 at the end of the third year and also try to get an internship at Emerson.Read more

Ques. How are placement opportunities in VIT, Pune for instrumentation and control engineering stream?

● Top Answer By Devesh Bhatt on 13 Oct 23

Ans. VIT is an autonomous institute affiliated with Pune University with an amazing placement scenario. Every student with a decent CGPA of around 7.5 is able to get amazing packages from good companies. In 2021, 50 out of 59 students got placed in Instrumentation Engineering with the placement percentage standing at 84.74%. Usually, the placement scenario can be divided into these  The campus recruitment where companies like MU Sigma, Persistent, Indian Navy Indian Army recruit students of this branch. IT companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, also visit the campus. Ques. Which is better, EE at DTU or ICE at NSIT?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 04 Jul 23

Ans. There is no better branch between EE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. It's all about preferences and inclinations. To help you make an informed decision let's talk about both the branches individually EE at DTU EE at DTU is core electrical engineering wherein you are taught concepts related to power, grids, electrical machines, etc.  For placements, core companies like BHEL and companies in the energy field visit the campus.  ICE at NSIT This branch has Control Engineering concepts along with electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.ICE has very light coursework and it's easy to maintain a good CGPA.  You also get enough time for your passions and extracurriculars. IT giants like Facebook, Google, etc. Don't allow ICE students to sit for placements.  Core companies that recruit students of this branch include Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and others.  Non-tech companies like BCG, Bain, and JPMC allow all students to sit for placements. NSIT has a larger batch size and thus the competition here is less than DTU for placements but it still it cannot match the brand value of DTU. In all, both DTU and NSIT have similar opportunities and placements so with the right mindset you can do well at both colleges. Read more

Ques. Which would be better to take from NIT Trichy: instrumentation and control or production?

● Top Answer By Anirban Biswas on 04 Sept 21

Ans. I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.  The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.  Industry: Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same. Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc. The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month. Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs. Academia: As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry. A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India. Within ISI: If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs. You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.Read more
