Life at somaiya

Likes

Some Teachers are very helpful and friendly just go to them if you have any doubt
Different committees like placement cell, cultural forum, sports committee,NSS etc
Campus is very big their are 3 canteens and food is hygiene maintained

Dislikes

The security in the campus they are irritating they will interfere in between even when you are playing with your friends
When it's almost their for sunset they'll ask you why are you sitting here go home n all
Our S K Somaiya college of arts science and commerce is best for me in my opinion so I don't have any problem with my college

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

I'll rate my course BCom 4 out of 5 because there are very helpful faculties like my mentor his calculation is so fast that if you are doing on a calculator he will do first from you even there are different curriculum activities which will help you like they go for a educational one day trip like in BSE or any industry etc even there are different committees which will make you extrovert committee is like cultural forum placement cell NSS sports committee etc even there are different committees if you choose BA like there are philosophy committee economics committee different different committees but in b.com you have only law committee which is regarding to studies and over all like for BA and b.com the placement cell cultural forum NSS and sports committee are available for both the courses

Various companies recruiting from the campus and highest package being offered

So basically the placement cell as a very nice committee according to me I was a part of that the there were different companies like Vodafone last year the Shriram finance came this year Vodafone came tensai came HGS teach for India et cetera the average package was 3 to 3.5 and the highest was 5 LPA even some sum of the companies were giving salaries according to the behaviour of the student or the degrees of the student like how much percentage have their scored and how much they can speak etc I have a very different sector from the companies which came like like I want to join airlines sector so I am looking in airline sector after my degree

Scholarship provided by the college on merit basis

Scholarship are for those who have caste certificate and for merit general student should score 70 atleast and lower caste has different merits that you can search on google about the percentage n all or can contact to adminstration office

Students views about the campus life

Campus is a very big campus there are three canteens even like whole year there will be fest which like in that campus there are something 6 to 7 colleges every college have their fest cultural forums and even our college is to have that SK somaiya and even different colleges have other committees like NSS so even they do have there fest

Faculty and examination pattern of the college

Overall the college is best for me and even the faculties are very helpful to the students if you ask them they are very friendly and some of the teachers are very rude and of course they have attitude so better you stay away with them were the other teachers like my mentor DK sir my account's teachers Krishna sir they are good people they will help you and even if you ask about any personal life or something they'll guide you properly Now education system has been changed by new education policy so the courses for 4 years and the subjects are too different but before NEP there was three years and 6 semesters each year has two semesters and in BCom you get an option to choose a subject in 2nd year and third year only the exams are neutral like not so easy and not so hard student do get kt but it depends on the student how struggling you are an according to that the exam goes

What is the admission process of the college?

So basically I wanted to join somaiya Vidyavihar only it was a dream college for me and the process was like we have to apply or registered online on their portal then you all have to wait for the merit list if your name is there they then you will get a mail for the admission process where you will get an so my as mail id which is for educational purpose or any details or any information about the college or about the campus the svv net ID portal which will be provided in the mail from there you have to fill the form and you have to pay the fees online offline is not allowed like everything you have to pay online and after that when you will go to the college you have to collect your ID's before that you have to take appointment in that portal only in the ID Card section and then you will get an ID from the college campus

Night Life

Campus do have gyms for normal from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and for sports students 9:30 to 12 noon then again from 2:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. for everyone even there are different different libraries in every colleges there are three canteens even big and hygiene is maintained outside the college we do have console gaming than cafes etc inside the college we do have Maggi house etc there are hostels for males and female there are two hostels in the campus 2 for males 2 for females campus timing for student is from 6:30 am to 6:00 p.m. and for hostel students is for till 9 p.m.

The years I will remember.

Admission:

I applied to KJ and Rizvi as well and got confirmation from Rizvi, but after comparing it with SK Somaiya in aspects such as sports and curriculam, SK Somaiya was the best fit for me. I did get rejected in KJ Somaiya because of my marks in 10th, KJ is known to have the highest cut-offs. The admission process is centralised and is done on the basis of merit and seat available. The eligibility depends on each years cut offs and requirements.

It is a five story building with all classes happening on the 3,4 or 5th floor that the staff expects us to walk to.

Admission:

I only got the subject Psychology in this college hence had to accept admission here. Eligibility of min 60% in board exam is needed. It is a pretty simple procedure to attain admission here without hassle

As in mumbai there are few colleges that provide honours degree, S K Somaiya is one of them. Also I was in Somaiya for my junior college so I had some great experiences during those years. The campus is also huge. And I had good score so it was easy to get admission but they do accept admissions through donations.

i had applied to various different colleges like sies, pillais, v.g vaze, dy patil, amity and i even got into some even i gave the cet for the BBA course. but the campus of the somaiya is better as i saw about the other colleges and the admission process was okayish as they didnt guide us through anything.

The library is really nice and has ac and even computers/pc where student can study or browse. In our building we even have an open library so there are various books to choose from.
Good alumnis and their network and also the extracurriculars are really well with different types of clubs there to choose from.

Dislikes

Limited opportunities for student who want to do community service or social service.

Admission:

I applied for mithibai and for datta meghe nagpur. Yes I got confimed admission from datta meghe but as it was far from mumbai and my house I chose Somaiya. Yes i git rejected from Mithibai as the cutoff was really high there and was only based on the 12th board marks. The admission process is simple u have to register fill out your details and pay the registration fees of 500Rs. Then u have to give the entrance exam which is called SVUET and the admission is based on the merit in that exam.
