What Students Say

Likes

The safety of female students around the campus and unbias nature around boys and girls
Clean washrooms in most of the buildings of the college
Huge number of fests and events to showcase talent

Dislikes

Bias faculty based on caste and favouritism was appreciated
Poor placement even after such a huge amount of fee and being a honours degree
Hidden politics of the management and faculty department

Course Curriculum Overview

It was insightful with the course equally distributed in three years. We were provided with a lot of industrial visits exclusive of the fees paid. It was an honours degree so more credits were provided.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 400000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Somaiya does accept admissions through donations and yearly the fees is distributed as 1,20000 and 1,30000 and 1,50000 respectively for 3 years of degree. Mine was merit based and it does have management quota too.

Campus Life

The college provides a huge variety of opportunities for people with each kind of interest. There is Debate society, cultural forums, departmental clubs, seminars, workshops and alumini meets. There's a great social life in Somaiya if you are an extrovert but introverts do struggle to make friends.

Admission

As in mumbai there are few colleges that provide honours degree, S K Somaiya is one of them. Also I was in Somaiya for my junior college so I had some great experiences during those years. The campus is also huge. And I had good score so it was easy to get admission but they do accept admissions through donations.

Faculty

The faculty members who were real and genuine and used to give insightful teaching but didn't used to indulge in faculty politics were kicked out and the course was indeed good tho which was the only reason I opted these college but wasn't benefitted accordingly.

Night Life

Only hostellites are allowed during night to roam around campus and only during night events and fests that are conducted we are allowed to stay there during nighttime. It is safe and a strict environment is created around.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Strong academic legacy with expereinced faculties and balanced content- preparing you for future studies and entrance exams and olympiads. very much strict, i would say not needed. somehwere you may experience baised behaviour; but when you are focused on gaining knowledge then these things dont matter as its only a matter of three years. Relevance of course is there but for applying for further studies not for that much for job prospects, if you want atleast a decent salary job.

Placement Experience:

I have rarely seen companies coming to our college for placement purposes for our course but I have seen companies coming for BCOM and BCA. I don't know about my course as I am currently in my second year. The percentage of students getting placements are veryess as my friend from third year said that out of 150 students only 10 students got placed this year which is very less compared to other colleges. My plans after getting the degree is if I got a job in any of the it company I will do it for experience and side by side I am planning to pursue my education in MSC CS

I applied to KJ and Rizvi as well and got confirmation from Rizvi, but after comparing it with SK Somaiya in aspects such as sports and curriculam, SK Somaiya was the best fit for me. I did get rejected in KJ Somaiya because of my marks in 10th, KJ is known to have the highest cut-offs. The admission process is centralised and is done on the basis of merit and seat available. So basically I wanted to join somaiya Vidyavihar only it was a dream college for me and the process was like we have to apply or registered online on their portal then you all have to wait for the merit list if your name is there they then you will get a mail for the admission process where you will get an so my as mail id which is for educational purpose or any details or any information about the college or about the campus the svv net ID portal which will be provided in the mail from there you have to fill the form and you have to pay the fees online offline is not allowed like everything you have to pay online and after that when you will go to the college you have to collect your ID's before that you have to take appointment in that portal only in the ID Card section and then you will get an ID from the college campus...Read More
