KCET 2027 Exam Date, Application Form, Syllabus, Result
KCET 2027 is expected to be held in the last week of April 2027 by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The official KCET 2027 notification has not been released yet. Based on the 2026 cycle, registration will likely start in January 2027 and the result is expected in June 2027. More than 3.3 lakh candidates are expected to appear and compete for engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture seats across Karnataka.
What is KCET 2027?
KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts this exam every year for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, veterinary science, and other professional programmes in Karnataka. It is one of the largest state-level entrance exams in India, with more than 3 lakh candidates appearing every year.
KCET rank is the main criteria for seat allotment in government, aided, and unaided private colleges in Karnataka. KEA conducts separate counselling rounds after the result to allot seats based on your rank and the college preferences you fill in.
Here are some key facts about KCET 2027:
- Full Name: Karnataka Common Entrance Test
- Also Known As: CET or Karnataka CET
- Conducting Body: Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)
- Exam Level: State-level
- Exam Mode: Offline (Pen-and-Paper, OMR-based)

KCET 2027 Preparation Tips
The KCET 2027 exam is expected in April 2027. You have time to prepare well if you start now. Here are practical tips to help you score well.
1. Master the PUC textbooks:
The KCET syllabus is directly based on the 1st and 2nd PUC Karnataka curriculum. Work through your DPUE and NCERT textbooks chapter by chapter. Do not rely only on coaching notes — official textbooks are the primary source for KCET questions.
2. Solve previous year question papers:
Solving KCET previous year papers is one of the most effective ways to prepare. Similar concepts and question types repeat across years. Solve at least 5–6 years of papers under timed conditions to build both knowledge and speed.
3. Focus on high-weightage topics:
- Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Modern Physics, Electromagnetic Induction
- Chemistry: Chemical Bonding, p-Block Elements, Organic Reactions, Electrochemistry, Coordination Compounds
- Mathematics: Calculus (Differentiation and Integration), Vectors, Matrices and Determinants, Probability, Coordinate Geometry
- Biology: Genetics and Evolution, Human Physiology, Reproduction in Plants and Animals, Ecology
4. Practise time management:
You get 80 minutes for 60 questions — roughly 1 minute 20 seconds per question. Practise solving OMR papers within this time. If you get stuck on a question, move on and return later. Do not let one tough question eat into your time.
5. Use the no-negative-marking advantage:
Since KCET has no negative marking, attempt all 60 questions in every paper. Eliminate clearly wrong options and pick from the remaining choices. A guess is always better than a blank.
6. Take full-length KCET mock tests:
Start full-length mock tests from February 2027. Analyse your mistakes after every test. Track your improvement week by week and focus on weak areas in the months before the exam.
7. Recommended books for KCET 2027:
- Physics: NCERT Class 11 and 12 Physics, Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma (for numericals)
- Chemistry: NCERT Class 11 and 12 Chemistry, P. Bahadur for Physical Chemistry
- Mathematics: NCERT Class 11 and 12 Maths, R.D. Sharma for 2nd PUC
- Biology: NCERT Class 11 and 12 Biology (most important for KCET Biology)
- All subjects: MTG Objective Karnataka CET (KCET-specific practice book)
Check the best books for KCET 2027 page for a detailed subject-wise reading list.
8. Keep the last month for revision only:
Do not start any new topic in the four weeks before the exam. Use that time to revisit formulas, reactions, diagrams, and numerical problem types. Consistency in revision matters more than starting new chapters at this stage.
