University of Texas at Dallas Students Review

Here’s what students say about their experience at the University of Texas at Dallas:

Purvi Sirohiya from the 2022 batch says “The campus is beautiful and scenic. Professors and academic representatives were supportive. I had great opportunities to work with companies like Lloyds Bank. However, the city was expensive, and the campus was far from the city center, making commuting tiring.”

Course: M.S Marketing

Prince Bhardwaj from the 2022 batch says “The infrastructure of the university is impressive, and the faculty is good. The student union is a great place to hang out. But there is a lack of coordination among students, and teachers focus mainly on assignments, which doesn’t help in gaining practical knowledge.”

Course: M.S Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

Sanjana Subramanian from the 2022 batch says “The academics are great, and the professors are amazing. The social network and career opportunities are huge, and the facilities are excellent. However, the college is mainly for commuters, so networking requires extra effort, and the Texas heat can be intense during summers.”

Course: M.S Biotechnology

To sum up, the University of Texas at Dallas offers great programs, especially in business, engineering, and science, with over 60 undergraduate and graduate options. It has a ~87% acceptance rate, but the cost of living can be high, and the campus is more commuter-focused. Make sure to submit all your documents and meet the deadlines to boost your chances of getting in.

University of Texas at Dallas Admissions FAQs

Ques. How hard is it to get accepted into the University of Texas at Austin?

Ans. UT Austin is selective. They look at GPA, SAT/ACT scores, extracurriculars, essays, and recommendations. With a GPA of 3.36, your chances may be lower, as their average GPA for accepted students is higher (around 3.8). Strong extracurriculars and a good essay could still help.

Ques. What are my chances of getting into Texas A&M University’s College Station campus?

Ans. Texas A&M is competitive but not as selective as UT Austin. Your chances depend on the strength of your overall application. With a 3.36 GPA and an SAT of 1130, it's possible, but competitive for certain programs.

Ques. Is UT Austin hard to get into? How selective is UT Austin?

Ans. Yes, UT Austin is very selective. It has a low acceptance rate, especially for in-state students, and they focus on strong academic performance, high SAT/ACT scores, and extracurricular achievements. It’s considered one of the more competitive schools in Texas.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarship since I applied a bit late and my GRE score was not very high.
  • Few received scholarships for the 1st year (Dean's Excellence Scholarship). For this, a GRE score is required and the higher the score, the more chance of getting this merit scholarship. It may be around $7500 for 2 semesters. Good GPA in undergrad also might help. Everyone who needs a scholarship must submit a separate application with an essay outlining why you think you qualify for a scholarship.
  • Not sure about the average number of students who receive scholarships. Many smaller scholarships are also available, which can be applied for during a master's. The amount varies, starting from $1000.

Scholarship

  • Universities provide a lot of scholarships for new incoming and current students. Many scholarships have their own criteria and requirements.
  • I did not receive any scholarship.
  • A few students in my class got scholarships from the University and they were offered in-state tuition scholarships.
  • I'm not sure how many students, on average, receive scholarships each year.
  • Usually many students have received a $1,000 scholarship. Some of them also received an in-state scholarship for tuition.

Scholarship

  • UT Dallas offers the Eric Jonsson Scholarship for CS students, which you can apply for via the college portal. No I did not secure a scholarship.
  • It covers half the semester fees, provided you maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout.
  • It’s highly competitive, with only 20-25 recipients selected from a batch of over 450+ students, making it challenging to secure.

Overview

I chose UTD because of its excellent academic reputation, especially in Computer Science, and also due to the good career opportunities that comes with it as a result of partnerships with leading companies such as Amazon and Verizon. For my career aspirations, it was essential that I am located in USA which is known as hub of technology and innovations. Equally important to my decision was the fact that family members live around and they can provide both personal help as well as academic assistance. The experience has been all encompassing - academics apart; I have taken part in such activities like ACM and playing for their cricket team. A lively student life is what the campus offers; one striking thing about it is that there exists a balance between academic pursuits and social activities.

Overview

I chose UTD because the Naveen Jindal School of Management is one of the finest in the country and the courses offered at UTD are really relevant and flexible and that is something that aligned with what I wanted to do. I also chose UTD because of the state of Texas, since there are a lot of Indians as well and cities like Austin and Dallas have plenty of opportunities almost equivalent to the west coast.

I chose this college because it had a good Biotechnology program, good pricing, and this degree is competitive in the job market. Overall, It was a great, enlightening experience where I learned to be independent, make friends, connect with professors and companies, and also where I worked hard and accomplished a lot. Now I have great job offers with good pay and a firm start to my professional life.

Overview

I chose this university as it had good ranking for masters in business analytics; most people from the batch got job on time. Overall experience has been pretty positive although the fees is higher if you don’t get a scholarship. So try to score well in GRE and get a scholarship to make it worth.

I received $1000 scholarship at utd.

Overview

I submitted 1 SOP, resume 3 LORs for my application. I wrote about my interest in the MSBA program and I linked it to how my professional experience of 1.5 years is relevant to this degree. I also mentioned relevant projects and extracurricular experience. LORs were given by my professors. My resume consisted information about my experience, educations, skills and projects. I was interested in UTD because of the ability to choose courses from various schools. Also, the location of the college is great and gives a homely feeling. I heard good reviews of this particular program and decided to go with it. I chose this program because I had experience with data in my workplace. I liked my work and wanted to explore it. It is a good university with great professors and academic programs. The infrastructure and extracurricular activities are good too. But I would say that it is very expensive without scholarship.

No, I have not got any scholarship since I applied to UT Dallas very late for admission. Applying as early as possible will help in getting scholarship.
