Required Exams for Admission

TOEFL (105)

I chose UTD because the Naveen Jindal School of Management is one of the finest in the country and the courses offered at UTD are really relevant and flexible and that is something that aligned with what I wanted to do. I also chose UTD because of the state of Texas, since there are a lot of Indians as well and cities like Austin and Dallas have plenty of opportunities almost equivalent to the west coast.

Course Curriculum

8

The UTD Information Technology and Management course is very well designed and covers a huge spectrum of domains and technologies. The curriculum is relevant and very flexible which allows the students to choose what suits them best out of a wide range of options. There are multiple tracks that can be explored. If you have decided what domain you want to go into or still deciding, I believe UTD has a lot of options to choose from.

Faculty

8

The faculty and staff at UTD are really helpful and are well-versed in their respective domains. We have a lot of faculty members who are adjunct professors meaning they have full-time jobs and come here to teach subjects related to their respective domains. This helps students to understand the subject from a professional standpoint and helps in professional as well as academic growth. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1: 25.

Campus Life

Other than academics, I believe there is a lot going on in terms of student led clubs, sports, events, activities etc. You just have to look out for all these events and decide which one you want to go to since there are events going on probably everyday. The student organization network is huge here and there are lot of opportunities that revolve around them as well. These organizations hold multiple events and talk shows with industry leaders. One of the clubs that I would like to recommend is Envision. It is a data visualization student organization at the Naveen Jindal School of Management and its aim is to help students with data and how to sell that data. For freshers who are enthusiastic about joining any student organization, Envision should definitely be one of the top choices. I myself benefitted from this as they held bootcamps and hackathons and I was able to understand and apply these skills in projects. Therefore I highly recommend joining this student organization.

There are a lot of companies that visit UTD like, JPMC, Goldman, Amazon, Kohler, Capital One, AT$T, T - mobile, Lennox etc. The average salary ranges from 95k to 150k with a median salary of around 105k. I believe this number is really good considering the tax rates in Texas. There are multiple career fairs where you can go meet multiple recruiters face to face and talk with them about the opportunities which I feel is a really good way to push your resume in the corporate world.

Accommodation

Off Campus

The accommodation facilities are also pretty good here. There are a lot of options to choose from here as well, however, that entirely depends on individual budgets and living preferences. The average rent ranges from around 500$- 700$ per month, and utilities are separate.

Exams

- Since I was admitted during the COVID phase, UTD had waived off GRE requirements however, they might have added the GRE requirement for admission again. My TOEFL score was 105 and UTD has a minimum 80 - 90 TOEFL score requirement for admission. - ICSE - 90%, SSC - 75% Savitribai Phule Pune University - 9.0/10 GPA - Requirements: I believe that everyone has to submit at least 1 SOP and 2 LoRs to any university they apply to and UTD is no different. Yes, I had to submit SoP, 3 LoRs and my updated CV since SoPs, show the university what makes them our first choice and why this program. LoRs show that the candidate has someone essentially vouching for them and providing recommendations. These are important documents along with your GPA as they hold value towards the admission committee.

Fees

Total tuition fees for one year range from 39000$ to 42000$ depending on the number of courses you take.
