University of Wisconsin, Madison (UW-Madison) Rankings 2025

• Initially the entire batch got a job within 3 months of graduating, but now the number has declined and invariable.
• 85-120k USD per year is the average salary.
• Most of their internships or Co-op get converted to full time or otherwise via online applications.

• Apartments.com, Zillow and student whatsapp groups help in finding accommodation. 650-750$ per month- including heat, water, waste disposal. Some even have maid service per week/month, sauna and gym.

• The average starting salary for computer science graduates is about $70,000, which is pretty decent. A lot of students focus on networking and try to convert their internships into full-time jobs. Campus career fairs are super helpful too since tons of companies come to recruit directly, and you get a chance to talk to them in person. For international students, though, things can be tougher because of sponsorship issues and how competitive the job market is right now.

• For the first year, I got the on-campus dorms; mine was the Ogg residence hall (pictures attached below). It had good rooms, kitchens, study lounges, and laundry facilities.
• It was right in front of the bus stop, gym, and dining hall.
• Other dorms were also nearby and some a little far.
• For years 2, 3, and 4, I am living in different apartments, which I found online and went through the application process for.
• The housing market is expensive here and rents are soaring. People are opting for luxury residences.
• Off-campus accommodations are within walking distance of classes.
• For future students, I would say find a few people and live in shared rooms to save money and start research early.

• I think that pretty much everyone got employment in 6 months. Atleast everyone I knew of, most of which were Indians. Since most of my friends were in CS, their starting salaries were quite high $100K.
• Most jobs are found via career fares, but LinkedIn is the best way to go about it. Major companies include Epic (a local tech giant), Apple, Microsoft.

• In 2019, I did not know about online portals, so university accommodation were my only bet. My advice is to find friends and live with them or look into Facebook groups. Finding a roommate is a practical necessity due to cost and honestly you might even like it.
• Monthly rent even with roommate was around $1K. This is on the lower end in america and you should expect to pay more.
• Accommodations are well connected to the university via buses.

I am not sure if I an well equipped to answer this question. I am aware of students being recruited into companies such as Tesla.

I chose this university because of following factors- 1. Funding in the form of a TA position 2. Opportunity to delve into an exciting field of research (AI in smart manufacturing) 3. One of the top 150 universities in the world. Overall, it is challenging at times, it was an invigorating and rewarding experience and equipped me with a diverse set of skills from AI to biomechanics.

A lot of companies do visit during the career fair, majority of them are placed locally or in mid-west areas. A few of them did call back and gave 40-50$ per hour.

I chose this university because of following factors: • Courses - flexibility in selection & wide range of courses • Affordable tuition fees • Good ranking for Industrial Engineering Overall, it was a new and unique experience, could explore diversity in terms of people, infrastructure, events, food. Had to take academics seriously. Good faculty support. Different approaches by different professors for teaching.

Not have a clear idea due to my lack of interest in obtaining a full time as my plan is to immediately return. Placements are not the best especially when visa sponsorship is required

3 LORS AND SoP were required. Skillsets directly related to field of study and reason for (if applicable) shift in field of study No I didn’t have any round of interviews. The best college out of current choices with a great program for my area The perfect college experience except for the weather which is very violent. We experience temperatures as low as -20. The crowd is good as the town is a university town and so we’re always surrounded by the people of same age group. Uni definitely has a party town reputation but it’s the best of both worlds. Connecting with people is slightly hard due to very undiluted crowds and still some racism

I am a freshmen current student hence I do not have knowledge of the question at hand that is about jobs.

The university has amazing CS program and also have a balanced student life hence I chose this university. I would like to say my 1st semester was a mix and match of mixing in academics and also living alone which was nice.

Based on my knowledge, almost all students get offers from reputed companies like google, Facebook, apple, meta, Amazon, AMD, nvidia, arm, etc. Salary depends on where you live but it will be more than enough to lead a comfortable life.

My experience has been very positive, got to learn so much from professors and peers and also have fun with other graduate students.

Post-Study Placement opportunities are amazing at Wisconsin-Madison with many alumni getting placed at reputed companies!
