I chose this university because of following factors- 1. Funding in the form of a TA position 2. Opportunity to delve into an exciting field of research (AI in smart manufacturing) 3. One of the top 150 universities in the world. Overall, it is challenging at times, it was an invigorating and rewarding experience and equipped me with a diverse set of skills from AI to biomechanics.

Course Curriculum

Students have the liberty to choose courses as per their requirements. My research was in the field of smart manufacturing and I had an interest in biomechanics. I was able to find the right courses to meet my needs. There were courses that gave us both industrial and research exposure through field visits and guest lectures.

Placement

I am not sure if I an well equipped to answer this question. I am aware of students being recruited into companies such as Tesla.

Internship

I interned with the University of Cambridge at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology in collaboration with a H2 manufacturing UK based company called First Hydrogen. The stipend was £15/ hour. My role was to analyze data from the H2 vehicles and recommend an AI tool for predicting fuel efficiency. I was able to get the internship as a result of a referral to a professor at Cambridge from a friend followed by a couple of interviews.

Fees

Without funding the amount per year would be $43265.

Scholarship

I was employed as a Teaching Assistant throughout the duration of my Master's as a result of which my tuition fees was remitted and I received a stipend of $800 biweekly(on an average).

Faculty

8

Faculty to student ratio would vary depending on the course. The range would perhaps somewhere be between 8:1 to 15:1 (or more) . Most of the faculty and staff were approachable, helpful and well versed.

Campus Life

While I wasn't very active in campus activities, there was no dearth of relevant campus events. However, most of them seemed to be catered towards undergraduate students.

Hostel

7

On an average I had to pay around $750 per month for rent and other facilities (wifi, electricity and heat).
