Required Exams for Admission
Course Curriculum
- The syllabus is up to the industry level & easy to grasp.
- There were a few courses that offered capstone or apprenticeship with company, to get some real world exposure.
Admission Experience
- Affordable tuition fees, Ranking for Industrial Engineering, Quick and responsive service, Course availability, Huge diversity of people from throughout the world.
- TOEFL score was 109 (Required 90+) , overall CGPA of undergraduate degree was 3.4/4 (required 3+).
Class Schedule
- 2 to 3 classes a day, 75 minutes each and not more than 4 days a week, usually scheduled after 1pm.
- 20 to 100 students per class, depending on the level of course.
Faculty
- approximately 1 faculty for 20-30 students. Most of them are very helpful and friendly, very approachable. Sinan Tas, Seirra, Pam Peterson, Raj Veeramami, James Swanke - really kind faculty.
Campus Life
- A lot of events and campus clubs available, very diverse and inclusive. The research is one of the top in the country but with limited availability.
- There are more than 3 libraries and they are huge in size, some open for 24 hours. The gym is among top school gyms of the US, with a lot of sports facilities.
Part Time Jobs
- Per hour the wage is 15-17$ for on campus jobs. An online student portal “ My student jobs - UW Madison” where all the on campus jobs are posted, including RA and PA.
- 20 hours per week is the maximum a student can work during school times and 40 hours per week during summer, spring and winter break.
- It is very easy to secure an on campus job if you apply as soon as you get admitted to UW Madison. Not a lot secure TA, RA typically, yet approaching teachers early could help.
Placement
- Initially the entire batch got a job within 3 months of graduating, but now the number has declined and invariable.
- 85-120k USD per year is the average salary.
- Most of their internships or Co-op get converted to full time or otherwise via online applications.
Accommodation
- Apartments.com, Zillow and student whatsapp groups help in finding accommodation. 650-750$ per month- including heat, water, waste disposal. Some even have maid service per week/month, sauna and gym.
Exams
- TOEFL is required for Master’s degree. Documents needed - Statement of Purpose, 3 Letter of Recommendations, Resume, TOEFL score card, Transcripts.
Fees
- 1,200$ per credit, with 30 credits it is 36,000 USD - just for tuition fees. With International fees, health insurance & tax would be 600 to 2000$ extra per semester.
