- I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
- Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
- Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.
Dislikes
- The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
- Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
- The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

Placement Experience:
Placements are above average in nationally compared to other engineering colleges. Among NITs, IIEST can be considered to be a mid tierr NIT.
Students in 5-6th semester are offered internship through on camous drive and final placements begin in 7th Semester.
Almost 100-120 companies visit every year across domains, IT, Consulting, FMCG, Finance, core engineering etc.
The average package is around 9-11 LPA with the highest package easily touching 40-50 LPA
Almost the entire batch gets placed.

- one of the oldest college in india , It has its own story of glory .
- very vast chain of alumina all over the world . this is very helpful for our secure future .
- very good in outdoor sports . 2 vast grounds for outdoor games .
Dislikes
- not as good in indoor games like outdoor games
- you may feel unfamiliar with language for max 4 to 5 months .
- Generally all things are good . you not regret after choosing IIEST
Placement Experience:
after 4nd semester you are eligible for internship basis of your skills.'
after 4nd you may got pre placement offers if you deserve . but officially placement starts in 3rd year.
Generally all big companies visited like :- Microsoft,gogle , adobe, uber, flipkart , etc
avg 80 to 90 percent students got places with average package of 8 lakh approx .
I also prepare for college placement because it is vey good.

- Good alumni network: Being one of the oldest collge this collge provides ample opportunity to connect through its alumni working in diverse field across the world. They are always helpful to the students asking for any kind of assistance and help.
- Proper infrastructure for sports is there. There are 2 large size grounds and there is also facility of gymnasium and swimming pool which is fully functional.
- Research culture is prominent here, a student will be helped by many professor through assistance and connections and LORs who wants to go for it.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is very old which needs to be maintained immediately, there is bad conditions of hostels and academics buildings in terms of infrastructure.
- Placements can be improved, the college is degrading in terms of placements for branches like civil, aerospace etc.

Placement Experience:
Students from 7th semester onwards are elegible for campus placements. Some of the companies that visits for placements are Google, microsoft, amazon, pwc, TI, accenture, PPEL, etc. A total of 920 recruiters were there which offered 753 offers to the students and out of them around 75-78% were placed.
The highest placement package was offered by microsoft for 51 lpa as PPO to 14 students and the role was IDC. The average package is around 7.5 lpa.
I am planning to appear in GATE exam and go for masters in IITs after completion of my degree where i will be persuing my further studies in transportation engineering.

- Its rich and vibrant history and the british architecture is a rate sight
- It has the INI(Institute of National Importance) tag
- The college professors are really the top of their class

- Lack of maintenance of the infrastructure
- Social hierarchy here might be frustrating for first years
Placement Experience:
From the seventh semester, students become eligible for in campus placements, I don't have the exact statement of offers and companies however in my department, the average placement is 14.5 lakh per annum in 2024

- Long semester breaks which gives plenty of time for self development
- This is very old college so it has a strong alumni network

- Area outside the college is dirty and filthy
- The college lies on the outskirts of the city
Placement Experience:
Students get placed at the end of 6th Semester. Almost every students get placed from various companies. As of my branch which is Metallurgy and Materials, a total of 45 offers were given for 39 students last year and roughly all students get placed. Average package is 8.5 LPA

- Campus here is amazing. You will experience the best of nature spread across 114 acre with lush green trees, ponds and peace.
- Seniors here are very cooperative and the college will help you out. The faculties are keen enough to teach you, and will solve your doubts. Curriculum is up-to-date and the college provides internship opportunities and placements.
- Campus life is good enough. There are lots of clubs, societies, outreach programs and fests. Participation in these widen your horizons and help you explore and discover where your interest lies.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure here is not how you would expect in private colleges like Amity, or new NITs and IIITs. But considering it being established in 1857, IIEST is well maintained.
Placement Experience:
Placements in my college are good. Students are eligible for placements from the end of 6th semester. From 5th semester onwards, companies come for providing internships. Although not many core companies come to hire Civil Engineers, many students from Civil Engineering goes for tech placements after working on their skills.
In Civil Engineering, there is 64% placement, which might seem less, but many students opt for Govt Service and higher studies, so they don't go for placements. This college provides M.Tech opportunities which you can directly opt after completing 4 years of Bachelor's and you will get a degree of B.Tech and M.Tech within 5 years.
Highest package in Civil Engineering was 13.6LPA last year and median package was 9 LPA. Core companies like Tata Steel, ITD Cementation, and non-core companies like TCS, PWC, ITC, Wipro, ICICI Bank hire Civil Engineers.

- First of all it is old, so that the alumi connection is very strong.
- All departments are good, except one (electrical)

- Electrical engineering department teachers doesn't gives marks as other departments teacher gives
Course Curriculum Overview:
The courses according to me is upto the mark and as per the GATE examination. So here, many students achieved best rank , for example the AIr 2 in the department of electrical engineering in GATE 2023. As per my knowledge is concerned that the syllabus has been completed till 5th semester so that, students can review the preparation of GATE examination.

- It's faculty and it's beautiful greenery campus and main placement status of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering department.
- Oldest engineering college in India.....
- Also famous for research programs for aerospace engineering

- The quality of hostel mess food and dishes
- Situated at City so pollution problem...
- There are very hot days in summer.temperature is too high.
Placement Experience:
It depends on the ability of students.In fourth year students are eligible for placement and in 3rd year they can apply for internships.
Tcs,tata steel,jsw,pidilite,Mahindra and manyore companies are visited .
70 percentage of students are palaced .
My plan is get placed in a best company at best package.

- I like the way teachers teach and cooperate with the students. The way they explain and make us learn in the lab sessions and all.
- The HRM department which takes care about the placements of the students.
- The college environment and the beautiful campus.
Dislikes
- The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.
- The mess system is not good as the food wont be good
- Infrastructure of the college is a bit poor.
Placement Experience:

- For our department the average placement package was 13lpa. And mine was 19lpa.
- Hostel life is what you can truely experience. Located in howrah it takes rougly 30 minutes to reach kolkata and you can have a lot of things to do there.
Dislikes
- If you are a student from nearby locations i would suggest to opt for some other NIT as you might not get hostel and end up being a day scholar which will ruin all the fun of studying in a college of national importance. You will also miss out on
- And beware of departments with less number of students. The teachers literally torture you till death. I had friends there and the experience wasn't good. Also placements from those departments are a bit tricky but if you are a good student, you can
- Bag an average of 6-7lpa based on you grasp in subjects.
Placement Experience:
In the beginning of 3rd year, companies start hiring interns. The number of students selected is less but still good. Try to Bag one offer and if you perform well during your internship period you will get a pre placement offer and can join the company as full time after your course is over. In my department the placement scenario is pretty pleasant and majority of us got internship opportunities and placements too. The average CTC from my department was 13lpa and I got 19lpa. The highest package was 80lpa offered by Atlassian. And then there was Microsoft offering around 50lpa. But then the majority of companies pay below 10 and you have to give your 200% to grab the offer from companies that give more than 10. And then there is luck.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.
Placements:
- Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
- Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
- The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.
Infrastructure:
- All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
- The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
- The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
- There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
- Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.
Faculty:
- The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
- There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
- The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.
The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
