MUJ B.Des (UX/ID) FAQs
Ques. Is B.Des (UX and Interaction Design) at MUJ a good choice for someone from a non-design background?
Ans. Yes. The program is designed for students from any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) with a minimum of 50% in 10+2. The first two semesters cover foundational design principles, visualization techniques, design thinking, and tools, making it accessible even for students with no prior design training. A strong interest in technology, problem-solving, and human behavior is more important than a prior design background.
Ques. What tools and software are taught in the B.Des (UX/ID) program at MUJ?
Ans. The curriculum covers industry-standard UX/UI tools including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision (for wireframing and prototyping), as well as front-end UI development tools. Data Visualization Techniques (Semester 5) and UI Development Advance (Semester 6) ensure students are proficient in both design and development-adjacent skills. Game design tools are also covered in Semesters 3 and 4.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Des (UX/ID) and B.Des (Communication Design) at MUJ?
Ans. B.Des (UX and Interaction Design) focuses on digital product design, user research, usability testing, wireframing, prototyping, human-computer interaction, and emerging technologies like AR/VR and AI. B.Des (Communication Design) focuses on visual communication, branding, typography, print and digital media design, and advertising. UX/ID is more technology and product-oriented, while Communication Design is more visual arts and branding-oriented. Students aiming for careers in tech companies, product startups, or digital platforms should choose UX/ID.
Ques. Does MUJ B.Des (UX/ID) cover Artificial Intelligence and AR/VR in the curriculum?
Ans. Yes. Semester 6 includes a dedicated subject titled UX Design for Futuristic Technologies (AR/VR, AI, etc.), which covers designing user experiences for augmented reality, virtual reality, and AI-driven interfaces. Additionally, Technology in Experience Design (Semester 5) and Introduction to Agile UX and 6D Process (Semester 4) ensure students are well-versed in emerging design methodologies and technologies.
Ques. What are the career options after B.Des (UX and Interaction Design) from MUJ?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers as UX Designer, UI Designer, Product Designer, Interaction Designer, UX Researcher, Information Architect, Service Designer, Game Designer, or AR/VR Experience Designer. They can work at tech companies, product startups, digital agencies, e-commerce platforms, gaming studios, or as freelance designers. The UX/UI field in India is growing rapidly, with freshers earning Rs. 2-3 LPA and experienced professionals earning Rs. 6-10 LPA or more in Jaipur and other metros.
Ques. Is the internship in Semester 8 mandatory? How does it work?
Ans. Yes, the Semester 8 Industry Internship is mandatory for all B.Des (UX/ID) students at MUJ. It is a full-semester internship (approximately 4-6 months) where students work with companies in the UX/UI, tech, or design industry. The internship is followed by a Presentation and Review, which is evaluated as part of the final semester assessment. MUJ's placement cell assists students in securing internship placements, and students may also independently source internships with prior approval.
