IIT Dhanbad Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

First of all this college is very very near to my home and secondly I grew up seeing this college developing, it recently became an IIT and before that also it was used to be one of the most reputed college in the nation, also top quality education is being provided in this Institute since decades and is famous for mining related branches, the college also provides further exposure to future scopes in the field of technology and also all students; doesn't matter in which department they belong also get an exposure to all modern techniques and skills because of which it becomes easier after once we come out of the college, also the teacher student interaction and the senior junior interaction in this college plays a vital role in all round development of a student and nurtures the student for further industrial experiences. Last but not the least, being an IIT also gives some extra responsibility on the shoulders of the Institute and it's students as well so consistent performing and more exposure to productive things are encouraged. Infrastructure is compact, all facilities are provided. And overall a good learning environment is been given.

It is one of the best institute in India specialy in Geosciences subjects. Teaching quality of faculties are good enough. Research quality institute is also not bad. Software which has been useful for the respective Scholars are provided by the department.

I choose this course because I was interested to explore the domain of Earthquake science and Engg. This course is suitable for anyone who want to pursue his career in research. It gives them opppurtunity to work on fields related to sesimic hazard , computational seismology, geotech earthquake engg. applied geophysics etc.

The college provide good resources for research and placement.The academics is good and surely provide a platform to leverage one'potential.The admission is purely based on GATE exam merit, the score of GATE is valid for 3 years , so for current year admissions last 2yrs score is valid too.I contacted seniors at IIT(ISM) to get an idea about the the department.

Students can sit for placements from the 7th semester. Nearly all the top companies come to college like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, JP Morgan, capegemini, Barclays, KPMG, Deutsche Bank, Walmart, PwC, Mckinsey& company and many more top companies come every year to hire students. As per data, the Highest package was Rs54.57 lakhs pa to 7 students by GOOGLE. The average package of college is Rs 11lakhs pa as per data available on iitism.ac.in. Various profiles are offered from coding, data analyst, tech analyst, management consultant, consulting, finance, IT sector, health sector are present every year. I'm planning to get into Management consulting directly from college.

The best college for my rank. college environment is too good, seniors are always helpful and friendly.

As IIT Dhanbad was established in 1926 for Mining engineering and later on many other courses introduced. Particularly IIT Dhanbad has good global position in mining engineering as well as in earth science related branches.Good infrastructure, study environment and student coordination. So overall performance is good. I have asked many coaching teachers and my relative who studied there. So if your jee advance rank is average than this IIT is good. There is good placement results.

The placements are really good. almost more than 80% of students get placed. 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements. Placements start from December ( for 7th sem students) and continue up to May or June (8th sem). Placement goes phase by phase like in the first phase (from December) IT, Management, and consultancy companies come. From the second phase, core companies start coming. then up to the third phase, all types of companies come and maximum students get placed. The highest package (in 2021 ) is Rs 48.30 lakh ( by a foreign company) in the CSE branch. The average package is 6LPA - 7LPA. Particularly in mining engineering, there is also good placements more than 90%.

I chose this college because it's the oldest IIT with a good Petroleum Engineering departement, or so I had heard. Coming here, I observed a completely different story. Politics in Department and Career development cell. No representation for M.Tech. This is a disgrace in the name of an IIT as it sends most of it's masters students towards unemployment. They systematically don't allow M.Tech students to sit in companies visiting the campus. I am a gold medalist with an OGPA of 9.96. Even I wasn't allowed to sit in for any core organization and all 21 of my batch are left jobless after the course got over. No one listens or helps. Typical government job, they do the bare minimum. Since B.Tech placements are to be sent for rankings, they just get them placed. I have been told by the CDC Director that since B.Tech students join from JEE and it's the toughest exam and what not and M.Tech students are not good enough, we don't get them placed. My HOD told my entire class that oil and gas organizations are not for you, either look into your network for any jobs or go for higher studies or a phd. We won't get you jobs. Utter bad experience. Never join this disgrace in the name of an institution.

It's an IIT with unique specialization in mining and geological fields, Mining machinery is only thaught here. For research and further studies in these fields, this college have some best faculty members for that. But to get a job, it's not that much beneficial nowadays as most of the PSUs take entrance exam or gate score for hiring.
