IIT Mandi boasts a highly qualified faculty, many of whom hold degrees from prestigious institutions. Although access to faculty has become a bit more challenging due to increased batch sizes and some faculty departures, students can still schedule appointments via email. The faculty uses diverse teaching methods, including labs and tutorials, ensuring a balanced theoretical and practical learning experience. The Robotics department, in particular, supports practical projects. The placement process begins in the 4th year after 3rd-year internships.

In 2023, 249 job offers were made with an average package of INR 25 Lakhs. Median salary packages varied by branch, such as CSE at INR 31 Lakhs and CE at INR 13 Lakhs. In 2024, first-round placement percentages were led by CSE with 82%. Notable recruiters include Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. The highest domestic package was INR 62.5 Lakhs, with international offers up to INR 2 Crores. Internships are required after the 5th semester, offering stipends between INR 30,000 to 2 Lakhs monthly.

Despite global recession challenges, over 80% of students secure jobs. The engineering course fee is around INR 1.5 Lakhs per semester, totaling INR 8 to 10 Lakhs for the entire program. Scholarships include the Central Sector Scholarship, HTRA, Merit Cum Mean Scholarship, and Institute Scholarship, with tuition waivers for low-income families and high-achieving female students. On-campus internship stipends range from INR 30,000 to 2 Lakhs for 2 to 6 months.
