Brief Overview over my life at IIT Mandi

I am not eligible for any scholorship so I pay the full fees, that is roughly 1,50,000 per semester. The breakdown is 1,00,00 tuition fees, rest is divided into hostel fees, maintainence fees, mess and other aminities. scholorship is available on the tuition fees only.

Upto date courses- The courses are updated and as per the industrial level . In the world AI and ML , there are three courses on Data science (1 , 2 and 3) compulsory for each branch , so there would be more interdisciplinair work.
R&D in Robotics field- There is separate department for Robotics CIAR , there are FDP(compulsorily course) and DP (elective) courses . Even Students from Germany , France come to IIT mandi each every around 30-40 for this course ,its market standard.

Dislikes

Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . I think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .

The complete fee structure as follows: There is admission fees compulsory 18000 Then the fees have mainly two components tuition fees and mess -hostel fees Tuition fees : Gen/obc ~ 40000 Family income between 1-5 lakhs=40000/3=13333 Sc/st/ family inncome less than 1 lakh =0 Mess-hostel fees: Its same for all ~24000 There are many scholarships provided by the institute like On the basis of family income If its less than 1 lakh than there is no tuition fees If its between 1-5 lakhs than there is only 1/3rd fees applicable And with time to time , the dean student office email us about the different kind of scholarships for different students like for girls students there are 2-3 scholarship , for disabled people there are scholarships and there is one sbi office in the campus which readily give loans on minimal interest.

Courses and faculty. Academic load is not too much

The fee structure is 1.5 lakhs approximately per semester. Total semesters are eight so it is somewhat between 8 to 10, lakhs fee hikes can be seen sometimes in accommodation hostel and other domains but not in tuition fee. It is not fairly regular, but sometimes it happens, compulsory charges include Gymkhana fees, medical fees, et cetera, scholarships are provided within different brackets of income and For Gen OBC. On campus internship offers are very good. Almost all the students get internships in various reputed companies with a good stipend starting from 30,000 per month up to 1,00,000 or two lakhs per month from a duration of minimum two months to maximum duration of six months.

The tuition fee here currently is 100000 and the hostel and mess fee account for 22000. But if your family's annual income is less than 100000, you will get a 100% fee waiver on tuition fees but hostel and mess fees you must have to pay.

Life at an IIT

The fees for general students at IIT Mandi are approximately amount to INR 1 Lakh per semester. This fee does not include charges for the hostel and mess, which are to be paid separately. There are one-time fees for items such as ID cards and medical claims. The institute fee may vary based on family income, with a reduced fee for families earning between INR 1-5 Lakhs and a waiver for families earning less than INR 1 Lakh. Female students who maintain a high CGPA may also have their institute fees waived. There is also an option for SC/ST and OBC/General students to apply for the MCM Scholarship, based entirely on their CGPA, which can fully waive the institute fees. Rs.8.43 lakhs is a normal fee structure of an engineering course as compared to other colleges and institutes. There are only four scholarships provided by the institute - Central Sector Scholarship for SC Students, HTRA scholarship for M.S., M.Tech., and Ph.D. Students/Scholars, Merit Cum Mean Scholarship for General & OBC Category Students, and Institute Scholarship for SC/ST Students.
