Nirma University M.Tech Eligibility criteria
Candidates seeking admission to any program should have been qualified with any one of the following criteria:
- He/She should have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology from a recognized university with a minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by AICTE from time to time or equivalent cumulative grade point index.
OR
- He/She should have passed any other qualifying degree/diploma examination considered equivalent by Nirma University with a minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by the AICTE from time to time or equivalent CPI.
Depending on the degree class awarded, semester results will be taken into consideration when calculating total marks. Applicants who took the final semester qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. Within thirty days of the semester's start, such applicants' results must be sent to the Member Secretary of PG-Engg as soon as the results are announced. If this isn't done, the entrance could be canceled. Such a candidate must, however, present a document attesting to their prior examination appearance from the Head of the Institute. At the time of admission counselling, a candidate who did not take the final semester exam will not be considered for admission. Candidates with CPI results must present a document from the concerned university stating the comparable percentage of marks required to be awarded a degree. An eligibility certificate from Nirma University will be needed for all categories if the candidate has passed the qualifying test from a university other than Nirma University.
Nirma University M.Tech Selection Criteria
- For all programs [except M.Tech Electrical Engineering (Electric Vehicular Technology)], non-sponsored applicants with a qualifying GATE score as mentioned in score card (greater than or equal to qualifying marks of the General category out of 100 or score in respective discipline) will be given admission based on GATE merit. After the admission of GATE applicants if any vacancy remains then the same will be filled by non-GATE applicants based on the merit of the All India Basis written test to be conducted by Nirma University.
- Applicants who have applied under the GATE category but have marks less than the qualifying marks/score (of the General category) will be considered non-GATE applicants and will have to appear for the written test. Such applicants will be given admission based on the merit of the written test.
- The syllabus for written tests for non-GATE applicants will be the same as that of the GATE 2024 Examination of the concerned M.Tech. program. There will be objective-type questions and the duration will be 1 hour.
- Appearing in a written test does not guarantee admission. If all the seats are filled up by GATE-qualified candidates, no admission will be offered to the non-GATE category. However, the merit list of non-GATE candidates will be operated after exhausting the merit list of the GATE category.
- For M.Tech Electrical Engineering (Electric Vehicular Technology), a common entrance test will be conducted for GATE qualified (marks obtained are greater than or equal to qualifying marks of the General category out of 100 or score in respective discipline) as well as non-GATE applicants of all eligible disciplines as mentioned in the qualifying examination. A separate merit list will be prepared for GATE-qualified and non-GATE-qualified applicants based on the common entrance test. The priority will be given to GATE-qualified applicants based on the common entrance test merit list. After the admission of GATE-qualified applicants, if any vacancy remains then the same will be filled by non-GATE applicants as per the merit list.
- In case, GATE Candidates have equal GATE Score/marks, and Non-GATE candidates have equal marks in written test, the following criteria will be used for deciding merit order:
- Percentage of qualifying examination based on which class is awarded for degree
- Percentage of eighth semester in qualifying examination
- If the result is awaited, the percentage of the seventh semester in the qualifying examination
- Date of Birth (older candidate shall be given priority)
