The Diploma in Business Process Outsourcing - Finance and Accounting (DBPOFA) is a one-year, semester-based diploma programme offered by IGNOU's School of Vocational Education and Training (SOVET) in Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Developed in association with the BPO industry, this is the first programme of its kind in the open and distance learning system in India. The programme is designed to equip students with professional skills in the Finance and Accounting domain, making them employment-ready for the growing BPO/ITES sector. It consists of 7 courses spread across 2 semesters, totalling 32 credits, and is offered in English medium. The total programme fee is Rs. 10,000 (Rs. 5,000 per semester). Eligibility requires 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject and 50% aggregate, or a bachelor's degree with English at 10+2 level. The DBPOFA is popular for its industry-aligned curriculum covering core F&A BPO processes (P2P, O2C, R2R), English communication, and IT skills, making graduates directly employable in leading BPO companies.

IGNOU DBPOFA FAQs

Ques. I scored 45% in 10+2. Am I eligible for DBPOFA?

Ans. No. The DBPOFA programme requires a minimum of 50% aggregate marks at 10+2 level with English as a compulsory subject. However, if you hold a bachelor's degree (with English at 10+2 level), you are eligible regardless of your 10+2 percentage.

Ques. What BPO companies hire DBPOFA graduates?

Ans. The DBPOFA curriculum is aligned with the requirements of leading Finance and Accounting BPO companies such as Genpact, WNS, EXL Service, Infosys BPO, Accenture, and similar firms. Graduates with skills in P2P, O2C, and R2R processes are in demand for entry-level roles like Accounts Payable Executive, Accounts Receivable Executive, and General Ledger Analyst.

Ques. What is the difference between Semester I and Semester II in DBPOFA?

Ans. Semester I focuses on Finance and Accounting BPO core processes: Introduction to F&A BPO (BPOI-101), Fundamentals of Accounting (BPOI-102), Procure to Pay/Accounts Payable (BPOI-103), Order to Cash/Accounts Receivable (BPOI-104), and Record to Report (BPOI-105). Semester II focuses on English Communication Skills (BPOI-006) and IT Skills (BPOI-007), both with practical components.

Ques. Are there practical components in the DBPOFA programme?

Ans. Yes. Semester II includes practical components for both English Communication (BPOI-006P) and IT Skills (BPOI-007P). Students will need to attend practical sessions at their assigned study centre. Contact your study centre for the schedule.

Ques. Is the DBPOFA diploma equivalent to a regular diploma for government job applications?

Ans. Yes. The DBPOFA diploma from IGNOU is a UGC-recognized qualification equivalent to any other diploma from a recognized university. However, for specific government job applications, you should check the recruitment notification to confirm whether a diploma in BPO/Finance and Accounting is an accepted qualification.

Ques. Can I pursue a BBA or B.Com after completing DBPOFA?

Ans. The DBPOFA diploma does not directly qualify you for lateral entry into a BBA or B.Com programme. However, you can apply for IGNOU's BBA or B.Com programmes if you meet the standard eligibility criteria (10+2 pass). The DBPOFA provides excellent practical knowledge that complements a commerce degree.
