AU D.Litt. (Arabic) Admission 2026
The D.Litt. (Arabic) at Assam University is a post-doctoral degree awarded through a rigorous evaluation process. There is no entrance examination; instead, the candidate submits a body of published work along with a synopsis, and the work is evaluated by expert examiners appointed by the university. The admission process is rolling in nature, and candidates may apply at any time during the academic year. Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) from Assam University or any other recognized Indian or foreign university in Arabic or an allied discipline.
- The candidate must be a serving or retired teacher in the university system with a minimum of 5 years of service after the award of the Ph.D. degree.
- The candidate must have at least 10 years of experience after the award of the Ph.D. and at least 5 years of post-doctoral research experience.
- The published work submitted must be of international standard and must represent an original and significant contribution to the field of Arabic Language, Literature, or Culture.
- The candidate must not submit any work for which a degree has already been conferred.
Admission Process:
- Candidate submits an application to the Department of Arabic along with a synopsis of the published work, proof of original research, and supporting documents.
- The synopsis must indicate what has been done by other scholars in the same subject and what the candidate claims as their own original contribution.
- The application is reviewed by the Department and forwarded to the School Board for approval.
- External examiners of national/international repute are appointed to evaluate the published works.
- The degree is conferred at the university's annual convocation upon successful evaluation.
- Separate application forms must be submitted for each department if applying to more than one department.
