A brief glimpse for Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat , Assam

Likes

The faculty here is really great! They are really concerned for our career prospects.
The campus! The green campus here is really pleasing and was the first thing i liked when I entered the university for counselling.
The library here is really good. You can read various kinds of books and also competitive exam books to boost your knowledge.

Dislikes

The hostels here are not up to date. Water facilities sometimes disrupts, electricity is not 24x7

Placement Experience:

Yes our students get placements directly from our campus. Companies like Amul, Federal Bank, Union bank of India, has come to our campus for direct placement. As per NIRF 2024, 87 students got placed from UG courses and 97 from PG courses. Starting salary from 66,000 to 70,000 in various jobs. My plan is to study masters and for that we have to prepare for JRF.

All the faculty members are very easily approachable and friendly

Dislikes

Water quality is very bed here in the city. Filtration of water is not satisfactory

Placement Experience:

Different companies are associated with the university for providing placement to the graduate. They also provide support to the Government exams candidates. Minimum package of approx 3 lakh for the freshers

Glimpses of My college and my degree

Likes

First of all It is one of best veterinary college of India And the best Among the north east . Campu is very beautiful Surrrounded by green hills and other natural beauties.
My social interaction is good, As the college organise a number program where you can show your talent and have fun with your friends
College faculty is very good all are highly qualified and experienced.

Dislikes

Placement problems are there as very few private company came for placement so that is one of the issue
Poor internet connectivity as our college currently don't have wifi connection all around campus but the work is going on it will come within few months
Our college don't have busket ball ground as I like to play busket ball but here we don't have busket ball ground

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our curriculum is 2016 MSVE Bvsc And Ah, Veterinary deals with a large number of species from Bovine ,To swine.This specification encouraged me to choose the course.Curriculum is very well prepared by central government and highly applicable in real world. Areas where our course curriculum can make improvement is "Add more practicals than Theory). Frequency of exam: in one year each subject conduct 3 internal exam 1 Final exam

Very good campus and environment

It has a beautiful campus with lots of greenery
Faculty are highly qualified and very responsive
Co curricular activities are abundant here

Dislikes

Water problem as there is more iron in the ester
Market is far from the college reach is a problem
No other problem is there in the university

I have chosen this course due to my interest in the food and nutrition sector. Student: faculty ratio is healthy. Professors here are highly qualified with PhDs, post-doctoral research, research papers, etc in their respective fields. This 4-year course has 3 years of Theories and Practical semesters with exams of both at the end and 2-semester internships which are an Experiential learning programme and a Rural awareness work experience program as per the curriculum prescribed by ICAR.

I chose this course because it was a unique course. I got to learn something different. Each batch has a few students which helps each and every student to connect with the teachers and learn better. It was difficult at first for many of us to pass cause this entire term exam thing was new to us. We had to study everything in very less time.

A green and beautiful campus under AAU teaches you to work for real India- rural community

Placement Experience:

In our 7th semester , we have Experimental learning Programme (ELP) and 8th semester is dedicated to internship under RAWEP programme at various KVK stations located nearby. Quite few students get placed. However, our college is trying it's best to bring companies to our college for campus selection. Many students opt for higher studies or prepare for Govt Jobs after graduation.

Currently, the College of Horticulture is functioning within the University campus. But most likely to shift to Nalbari which is 50km away from Guwahati. There are 30 seats in each batch. The Teachers are good and helpful. Semester-wise exams are conducted and are average in terms of difficulty. Most students pass with good marks.

One of the best Universities in Assam with good infrastructure and ample placement.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester onwards students are eligible for placement in different agricultural companies including the banking sector also. Different banks like PNB, ICICI, SBI, HDFC, etc offers frequent placement options. The average package is around 3.5 lakhs per annum after graduation. But you can opt for a Master's degree for better placement options.
