Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Agriculture is really an important factor for survival. Specifically India is a agri-based country. This course is really underrated but yet one of the most important course like medicine, engineering, nursing, etc. This made me choose this career option. The scope factor is really high. This degree helps you to apply in versatile positions.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

RAWEP/TIWEP/ FWEP internship for 4th year students with a stipend of ?15k per month. Students have to stay at remotes areas, given tasks and work with farmers to ensure they can control any situation as a graduate.

Placement Experience

4

Yes our students get placements directly from our campus. Companies like Amul, Federal Bank, Union bank of India, has come to our campus for direct placement. As per NIRF 2024, 87 students got placed from UG courses and 97 from PG courses. Starting salary from 66,000 to 70,000 in various jobs. My plan is to study masters and for that we have to prepare for JRF.

Fees and Financial Aid

I opted for hostel therefore during admission I gave 23k for 1st semester. Then for 2nd semester I gave ?14k. Day scholars have to pay less as hostel fees are not included. Hostel fee for one semester is around 9k. The increase in fees is not much high per semester. If we take a rough idea then the whole course should complete around at 1.2 lakhs.

Campus Life

5

As i mentioned earlier, the campus is my favourite thing in the university. The environment is lush green with scenic views. Uni fest (Aventine), College week, Sports week, competitions and various activities are often conducted. The library is equipped with various books and journals to study. Various clubs such as music, sports, etc are there. We have gym, swimming pool, badminton court, basketball court, football stadium, cycling club , etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel are average. We have electricity but sometimes generators don't work so that creates a problem. Water in Jorhat is full of iron, so hairfall is a serious problem for girls. Still nowadays filtration is done to prevent as much possible. In week starting from monday we have veg item such as Rajma, Rice, Daal, custard and Tuesday we have fish, Wednesday we have paneer ,etc and at the end of every 15 days we are given Mess special like pulao, chicken, cold drinks, etc (like a mini party) PGs are available nearly, many of our friends stay there also rented rooms are available. Hostels are more affordable compared to PGs.

Admission

If you live in Assam and have a domicile you have to appear for CET entrance test. You can check about it in the website of AAU (aau.ac.in). The cutoff for general goes to 150+ rank for bsc, agri hons in Jorhat campus. Also you can apply by giving CUET-UG through ICAR. The admission process is offline, for counselling, you have to visit Jorhat campus. But for exam registration it is online. The reservation advantages are there for OBC, EWS, SC , ST, AAU employees quota, High fee, etc.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty members here are highly professional and qualified. We are taught by assistant professors, associate professors, junior scientists and sometimes even the head of the department too. As an UG student i feel the faculty members are way to good in their teaching skills. The student to teacher is average according to me. We are given weekly counselling sessions by our teachers too (more precisely an advisory class) to discuss about the problems we are facing and anything that might make us question a thing. The teachers are overall really friendly and interactive. I as a girl feel very comfortable to approach them and ask any doubt that arises. Of course there are exceptions because not all people are equal.

The new syllabus under new education policy is better which focuses on practicality.but the old one in which we are enrolled is more focused on theoretical aspects rather than practicality. Students start studying before 2 days of exam and forgot everything after exams ...its like parrot learning , which do not teach anything in reality .
