Whether doing MS by Research in ECE at IIIT Hyderabad is worth it or not depends on what you are expecting from it. Consider the following situation

If your goal is to secure a good package, though MS, M.tech will serve you well.
If you are a research enthusiast and want to pursue the same, the primary step is to identify the research area and choose the institute that specializes in that area.
If you are planning to do a Ph.D., then go for an institute that will support your research area in MS and Ph.D. It’s better than changing colleges.
If you want to gain some work experience before going for your Ph.D., then M.Tech is a better option because you can start working right after 2 years and won’t have to wait for 4 years as in the case of MS.

Overall, IIIT Hyderabad certainly has a great research culture so it’s a good option if there are good professors in the area of research you are willing to do.
