It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

The Hidden secrets of NIT Rourkela

Likes

The infrastructure of our is really good and it is attractive for students
Our college have best placements for all the courses and maximum students of mechanical engineering are get placed in recent years
The faculty members who have experience in this field are really good but the new faculty have to improve their teaching skills

Dislikes

In our college i don't like the fest they have been conducted
In our college I don't like the mess food
I our college there will be always a problem about network signals

By the ending of third year the students get eligible for the placements. Companies like Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google visited our college to recruit the students. In last year our mechanical engineering branch has 97 % placements

Likes

Our collage infrastructure is very best and the collage is larger than any other nit
Our college has the best placements for all courses especially mechanical engineering has max placed in companies
In our college there are good faculty to teach you if you have any doubt they definitely soleve to your problem and they advice to choose your future

Dislikes

In our college there i dont like fest which are held by the way there are very less fest conducted
In our college there is very poor internet network and the hostel provide the internet but it is very worst than our sims
In our hostel i dont like mess food there serve the same for everyday

Things you must know before coming to NIT ROURKELA

Likes

Very vast place and huge labs for good practical experience
Class room are very huge and installed with air conditioner
No raging and different hall of residence for seniors and juniors

Dislikes

No single rooms for first year students and timing are very strict
Very high attendance needed for getting good grades
Network speed is limited to 15 mbps and this is only for college network

From 7 th semister students are able to start paid internships and compus placements are vey good amd very high rated companies like google amazon zomato tesla and wipro and many other companies came to my college and recently my senior got 1.2 cr as his package and the average package are around 15 lpa and after getting my degree i will run into business and become entrepreneur

Genuine College Review of NIT Rourkela

Likes

Vast campus with over 1200 Acres of area. It is filled with Greenery. Every Department has it's own building. There are cool hangout spots for students. They also recently setup Domino's and Keventers in college.
The guidance they give for Placements is good like they have a training committee and a placement committee that helps you with your queries. Professors are also good. Hostels are spacious. They encourage different kinds of Sports.
The College Fests are good. We have 4 fests for the entire year with different aspects like technology, Sports, Cultural and FIlm. The clubs culture is too good, we can explore ourselves in this college.

Dislikes

Professors are too strict and the syllabus is too tough and vast. The attendance system is >85% which I feel is way too high and we also get a medical leave if the issue is too serious.
Coming to the placement scenario, the companies that offer ctc below 8 lakhs are way too many and only a handful companies that give good ctc visit the campus.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for internships from their pre-final year. The placement scenario here is good, around 900 among 1100 students are already placed which is around 80% till now and many will get placed in due time. From what I have seen the average package is around 10 LPA which is considered decent. we get companies seeking job roles of core, SDE, Data analyst and data scientist more. My plans after getting the degree is to get into a good company.

Dislikes

the exam schedule of this university is one of the worst with no gaps. and they just conduct the midsems without even the completion of 2 months.
the weather of this area is very extreme and unpredictable.
i am not impressed by the teaching criteria of faculties. they are so rude

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum is pretty good but the faculties dont know how to tackle it. the time between the exams are not sufficient. even without the completion of 2 months,they conduct the midsemester exam without any exam gaps.they also dont teach properly or systematically.

Likes

Hostel of residence division like they provided separate hostels for seniors and freshers
They have ensured no ragging to freshers
Mess facilities available here are really very good

Dislikes

The hostel infrastructure like they seem outdated
The unavailability of co-ed facilities (except the green garden cafeteria)
Less number of shops like cafe, pizza shop , sweet shop etc

The placements of my college is really good. As usual the placement average of Computer science department is on the top. My department is electrical engineering it's average package is 12 lakhs per annum Last year electronics department showed a good placement of highest package of 1.2 CPA in Electronics and Instrumentation branch.

Likes

I like the campus area that is of 1200 acre where 600 acre comprises of greenery and other comprises of academic area, hostel area, sports field, etc.
I like the different club culture of the college. There are more than 20 clubs related to various domains like coding, development, art, dance, music, etc.
I also like the teachers experience who are teaching us. They are from place which helps us to acquire more knowlegde.

Dislikes

I don't like the hectic schedule of our college which starts from 8 a.m. in the morning to 6:30 p.m in the evening.
I don't like the timing of different fest happening in the college as its time clash with the exam preparation time.
I don't like the branches differentiation in the college as the CSE branch student are approached more in the college but other branch does not get much opportunity.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course is irrelevant when ot comes to non-circuital courses because most of the students apply for software jobs but the circuital students have relevant courses which will help them in thier job oppurtunity

The coding culture and the club culture that inculcates good skills
The campus environment and the campus greenery
The optimum oppurtunities available and the tier 1 companies

Dislikes

The lack of resources and direction for non circuital branches
the lack of better hostel and better food
the lack of long library hours and other places for group discussions

the relevance becomes a relative topic as most of the students opt for software jobsa and their degrees are majoring in something in else so the degree becomes irrelevant although someone who likes his/her branch would have a good time here

Likes

This year, veg mess food quality is better than other messes.
Campus is very big. Lot of clubs are there to explore yourself.
You can play any sports. Gym and swimming pool is also available. In every hostel we have a "Kaam Chalau Gym".

Dislikes

Seems like people are more focused in core engineering. A lot of students prepare for gate.
Coding culture could be improved. You have to be in a good friend circle.
Academics is quite far from boy's hostel.

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good in our college. You get a lot of opportunity. If you stay consistent, you can get a good placement (10 lpa). The placements for circuital branches (cs, ec, ei, ee) are better than other branches.

Big and green campus. Nice campus and night life.
Very highly professional faculty and non-teaching staff.
Excellent Infrastructure and we'll maintained

Dislikes

Low gender ratio,the ratio is 1:5(girls:boys)
The quality of mess food is not upto standard
The the attendance policy is too high with 85% attendance

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are very good compared to other colleges.There are about 600 companies visiting our campus and students from 5th semester are eligible to be placed.The average pakage is around 13.5LPA and highest around 1.2Cr per annum.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
