Remarks

The college life is great. We can meet people coming from different parts of Kerala there are also students from North India. We can make a lot of friends from all over Kerala. There is also an all India trip spanning over 2 weeks in the 3rd year of the course conducted by our college. There is no one without a job after passing out from TKM.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum they are following is KTU( Abdul Kalam Technological University). Its an average. Not as efficient as that of IITs or NITs of thee central government. It covers all the portions in mechanical engineering. There are also grace marks and extra curricular activities that grants you credits like sports, music, leadership, etc. This university emphasises in improving our knowledge as well as character and teaches us more than just things book can offer. The exams they conduct is easier than that of IITs or NITs and we can score a very good mark if we start preparing for the exam just a week before it starts. Each subject is divided into 6 modules and there will be questions from all these modules in the exam. The mark required is 45 out of 100 for passig the exam.

Placement Experience

4

The palcements and job opportunities are great. There is job opportunities from various core as well as IT companies. There are companies from within india as well as from abroad like from the middle east and other countries. Yes our college provides internship and you must carry out your internship in good reputed companies for more than 2 weeks to get stipend. The stipend range is from Rs.4000 and more. It is recommended to go for internship because it will improve your practical knowledge and I had a very good experience.

College Events

4.5

Our college is filled with exciting events. There are Ted X programmes ,film festivals, sports competition, union inaugration, arts festival, college fest, valentine day programmes, charity programmes and more. There would be atleast one or two programmes in each month. The best programme is Hestia our college fest which spans for 3 or more days and is filled with programmes and students from other colleges can also compete in competitions. The best days of college are the days of our college fest hestia.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes the fee structure is feasible. If you are a student who got in by merit of the entrance test your annual fee will be less than 10000. If you are a sudent who is not by merit then it is expensive for the full course of 4 years that is fee will range beetween 7-10 lakhs for the full course.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is scholarship offered by the college. The scholarship is provided under the basis of kerala engineering entrance test merit list. They are also given if you have good class 12 marks. We get about Rs.25000 to Rs.50000 as scholarship annually.

Campus Life

4.5

There are many workshops and labs in our college for each and every course. The facilities are great. There are many extra curricular activities like Football, Tennis,Badminton,Table Tennis,Basketball, Music Club,Volley ball,Gym,etc. You can participate in this activities in early morning or evening or in holidays. There are also coaches for teaching these activities. There are sports activities taught by our Phycal Education Teacher. There are sports fest and inter college sports meet.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes I am a hosteler. The hostel infrastructure is good. The hostel is clean and the facilities are great. There is good lighting and comfortable atmosphere for studies as well as good roommates. The food is really delicious and even if you are suffering any problems. The hostel warden is always ready to help.

Alumni/Alumna

The spirit of our college hasn't yet faded away from our alumnis. The alumni of our college is spread across the world. The college was established in 1959 so there are a lot of members in our alumni. About 20000 to 50000 members. They all have contact with our college and are very helpful to our newly passout students. You dont have to worry about getting a job if you are a TKM passout there are 1000s of companies under our alumni waiting for a TKMian. There is always help from our seniors.

Admission

I went for entrance coaching for a year in brilliant entrance coaching centre pala, kottayam. The entrance coaching was taught by brilliant Teachers who were really helpful in improving my concepts. Then wrote the kerala engineering entrance test.Waited for the marks and ranks to be published. Then i selected various colleges for allotment and the branch i selected was Mechanical engineering. My first option was College of Engineering Trivandrum(CET) 2nd was TKM 3rd was Mar Athanasius college Kothamangalam and 4th barton college Trivandrum. I got allotted into tkm in the 3rd allotment and i got admission there.Tkm is like the 3rd best Engineering college in kerala after NIT Calicut and College of Engineering Trivandrum(CET)

Faculty

4

The faculty of our college is very helpful when it comes to education. Most of the teachers are friendly and caring. Most of them would help if you have scored few marks in your examination or if you have attendance shortage beacause you were sick. But there are a few who are rude and most of them irritates the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
