The review

The campus is beautiful, the college life is best. Such a peaceful area yet not so far from kolkata and well connected. The stress level can be high sometimes because of study pressure but it is worth it as the placement is good.

The course curriculum is good. It is a autonomous University. The whole year is divided into 2 semesters which are odd and even semester. In the middle of the semester midsem exams are conducted and after a sem is completed a semester exams are conducted.

The overall placement is good. I would say it is much better than many colleges. Many core companies also come. The package given is approximately 5 lakhs. many companies do also come to give internship. After the internship is completed succesfully preplacement offer is given to the student.

There are two fest every year. There is one technical fest and the other is cultural fest. The technical fest has various events. Many colleges come and compete so it is a good platform to challenge and grow. The cultural fest is named rebeca which is good. It goes on for 4 days. Many bands and singers come for 4 days and students enjoy frim night 8pm to morning 5 am.

The fee structure is totally feasible. It is a central government college. It cost only 35 thousand per semester. For poor students various scholarships are also offered. So it is easily affordable. The mess fee comes around 4k. So it is totally affordable.

If a student is from a quota category than the whole education fees is relaxed. There are many scholarships which a student can avail. The details are send to student through notice boards or college website.

The college has many clubs like dramatics, music, quiz, robotics, coding etc. So the extracurricular activities are good and a student can pursue there hobbies easily. the college has swimming pool , basketball court, football ground, cricket ground etc. The labs are upto the mark.

For first 3 years a student is provided with a sharing room. In each room there are 4 students. However it doesnt feel uncomfortable as the room size is adequate. A bed ,an almirah , a table is provided for each student. In 4th year every students are given a single room which is totally adequate in size. The ventilation is good. A chai , a bed, table ,almirah is provided to each student

The alumni network of iiest shibpur is very strong and vast. They are helpful during placement and internship. The network is vast as this college is very old college. I have seen many student being placed in a comapany or getting internship through recommendation.

I got admission through jee mains which is a central exam. If you get enough marks and good rank in jee mains exam you can get a seat, after getting the rank a national counselling is done for all nits and iit and iiest together. You can fill up the form and get a seat.

The faculty of the college is very good. They all are experianced and dediacted professor. They all are highly research oriented. I have seen many professors to work in the lab till night 2am. However i have seen they have knowledge but somehow they cant teach properly in a way a new student can understand.
