What Students Say
Likes
- The structure of societies in college, the rigorousness in recruitment and the kind of exposure provided by various societies in different fields including finance, consultancy, management specifically for bcom (hons) along with other courses.
- The quality of social interactions with a hard-working, skilful and helpful crowd that goes out of their way to assist other peers in their personal as well as professional goals.
- I also love how there are chat groups generated for different courses that update about various internship opportunities available at every stage of college including first, second and third year students.
Dislikes
- The lack of certain learning facilities like access to computer labs as they are reserved only for B.A. Computer Science (Hons) students while Bcom (hons) students also require such facilities for practical application of accounting.
Course Curriculum Overview
- The curiculum offers diversity in subjects even while practicing and learning your course subjects. So this flexibility offered in my course really intrigued me and pulled me towards pursuing it from Hansraj College. - The curiculum satisfactorily prepares you for the real-world applications and furtheir pursuits relevant to getting into the corporate world. - Areas for improvement in the course curriculum could be as mentioned before integrating AI and coding to a greater extent.
Placement Experience
- In most cases, students become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester/ start of final year onwards. - Bain and Company, BCG, Accenture, Delloite, EY, KPMG, PwC, Infosys, HCL,ICICI, DE Shaw are major recruiters that show up very frequently for campus placements at Hansraj College. Overall there are about 200+ offers for placement across all courses. - Highest Package- 23 LPA, Average Package- 9 LPA, Median package- 8.4 LPA - Around 15% placement percentage across all courses for Undergraduation. Around 40-45% recruitment of specifically bcom (hons) students - Plans after getting the degree: Get a CFA Charter, Go for an MBA in Finance from Abroad

Admission
- I applied to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Symbiosis Centre of Management Studies (SCMS) Pune, SCMS Noida, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGS) Chandigarh, Delhi University and Christ University Bangalore. I got confirmed admission in all of the other colleges except Christ University, Bangalore. - I chose Delhi University- Hansraj College because of it's strong academic reputation, defined legacy, profound placement packages and strong alumni relations. All of these were more attractive to me personally than choosing any other private university that had less diversity of crowd and limited set of opportunities due to less reputation relative to Delhi University. - I got rejected from Christ University Bangalore in the interview round because of certain lack in my preparation of General Knowledge. - Admission process of Hansraj college has following steps: You have to give CUET UG examination with required subjects of your specific domain as per the criteria mentioned by the University of Delhi. And according to the preference list submitted by the students, the specific college according to cut-off is alloted to the students. The cut-offs are different for General category, SC, ST, OBC, Extra curricular activities, Foreign Student (don't have to give CUET UG, their selection criteria is marks of board exams or any other school examination) and other such quotas. - Cutoffs for bcom (hons) are the highest in terms of numerical value of marks not according to level of difficulty, most amount of competition is among commerce students itself. - The overall admission experience is quite rigorous and tests your academic acumen and level of understanding of concepts. It is fair and transparent as it also involves criteria of normalisation to bring all students who have given the examination at different days and different difficulty levels on the same ground of judgement which is sensible and righteous.
Faculty
-Faculty-student ratio is about 1:22 and faculty to student relationship is quite satisfactory. The faculty is fairly approachable and guides, mentores and supervises the students as and when needed. - I personally have met and interacted with the faculty of commerce department. And I must say the teachers of the commerce department are co-operative, diligent and very helpful towards the students. - I haven't come across any such faculty that I didn't like as of now. Hansraj's faculty is one of the best faculties in entire Delhi University so no complaints in that aspect. - There are total of 7 subjects in the DU circuit- 3 Domains/ DSE, 1 VAC, 1 AEC, 1 SEC, 1 GE (General Elective from some other course), you have the liberty to choose subjects according to your preferences and interest and there are certain subjects that offer only practicals and no theory exam as criteria for examination. Overall the exams are moderate to high level in difficulty but there is quite less ratio of students who fail in exams. So getting a high SGPA / CGPA requires effort but passing the exam is not so tough. - Talking about the relevance of the course curriculum, the syllabus is revised every year in accordance to current trends and develops mental acumen as well as knowledge to a great extent. So no complaints with regards to the relevance of the curiculum. Only if subjects with AI or coding could be integrated their relevance can be increased even more than it is right now.
Night Life
- Favourite hangout spots are the Mitti Cafe, Amul Station, Nescafe station for eating and gossiping purposes at the Hansraj college campus. - Talking about hangout spots outside the college- Kamla Nagar market has famous restaurant Rico's and fastfood chains like Taco Bell, KFC, Mac Donalds and tea stalls like Sudama, Nagori are quite popular among Hansraj students as well as other north campus students. - Talking about if locality is safe at night, it is relatively safe as compared to south campus colleges because Kamla Market is full of a large crowd of students due to the north campus colleges in close vicinity to each other. So a large number of students are roaming around even during the night time.
Other Applied Colleges
Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] | Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] {Hons.}
I wanted to opt for a government college instead of a private college and the strong academic reputation, legacy and the status of companies that recruit students from Hansraj seemed much more valuable than Symbiosis
