Calcutta University makes the curriculum which is followed by this college as well as all other colleges affiliated to this university. Exam structure is 1+1+1 i.e 3 years course. Questions of exam are also prepared by University.

As our college is a degree college, there is no such placement for the courses taught in our college. But success rate of students in job filed is quite good compared to other colleges under Calcutta University.

College Events

1) Annual sports which comprises different type of sports for men and women. 2) Christmas Day 3) Annual Fest called Caledonia 4) Celebration of different cultural days 5) Debate on different topics and so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees of different courses is slightly high in Scottish church college as compared to others colleges in kolkata. Our college also have self financing courses like Microbiology. But I must say our faculties are worthy of the fees structure of this college.

Fees and Financial Aid

Though Scottish church college does not have its own scholarship but the teachers always make the students aware of different Govt scholarship and make them prepare for those scholarships. Does not have any clear idea on loan facility.

Campus Life

Scottish church college is also good at extracurricular activities. Sports and cultural programmes are arreanged every year regularly. Scottish church college also conduct a annual fest in winter called Caledonia.

Hostel Facilities

Scottish church college has good hostel facilities. It has all total 5 hostels for boys and girls. Infrastructures of those hostels are aslo good. Good quality of food is provided in that hostels. Rate is slightly high.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes. Alumni always look on for the betterment of this college. Senior students keep them in touch with present students. Every year Reunion is arranged by students and college authority which witnesses a massive participation of current and ex students.

Admission

Through Admission Test. Only science departments take admission test. Also the marks obtained in Board HS exam are taken into account for final selection. Other departments take admission only in the basis of marks obtained in that particular subject.

This college has one of the best faculties in kolkata, especially in Science Departments. Physics and Chemistry dept are the best dept of Scottish church college. This college has autonomous Post-graduate course in Chemistry.

I'm not sure but I think from 3rd year we will be eligible for placements. There are many finance companies, banks like HDFC, SBI, Canara,etc... & companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Deloitte, PWC,etc.... The highest package last year was like 9.64 LPA & in the year before it was 10 LPA while the average is around 2-2.5 LPA. Around 20% of the total strength gets placement. Even only few % of the total strength applies for the placements. My plan is to take a placement if I can or if not then off campusing and then gather work experience & do MBA later which will give me very benifits.

The hustles and joys of a college life.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course because of the Media and the lab facility, and my desire to understand the entire course in journalism and mass communication. The course that I took gave a bit more theoretical aspects rather than the practical ones. The practical ones were a bit less compared to theory ones. The areas I would suggest for improvement would be to encourage more assignments and provide more internship facilities to the students. The frequency of the exams for me was okay, and it was moderate, not difficult.

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

I also applied to the main university but didn't get a chance there. That is why I had to take admission in this blasted institution. I received the rejected from the University due to my lack of percentage in the paper called marksheet. That is what went wrong. The admission process is completely done through the internet. To apply one must have a minimum of 60 % marks in their previous courses. That allows you to fill up the application form. You have to pass the 12 th boards with above 90% marks then only you'll get the college. They always have the application form and all the informations in there official college website. There was reservation policies as I was sc so it was a little bit low cut off for my reservation. The exam pattern and difficulty level was a little bit hard.
