Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at BMSIT is good and covers all core CS subjects like DSA, DBMS, OS, and Networks, which helped me choose this course. It builds a solid foundation for placements and higher studies, though some topics feel a bit outdated compared to current industry needs. Exams happen twice internally and once at the end of the semester, and they are manageable if you study regularly. Overall, the syllabus is comprehensive but could improve with more industry-oriented subjects and project-based learning.

Placement Experience

4

At BMSIT, students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester onwards. A good number of companies visit the campus every year, including Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, TCS, Capgemini, Cisco, Amazon, and Dell, among others. The highest package in recent years has gone above ?30 LPA, while the average package usually stays around ?6–7 LPA for CSE students. Around 80% of students get placed, mostly in roles like software development, web development, data science, and AI/ML engineering. Personally, after completing my degree, I plan to sit for campus placements and aim for a role in software development. I also want to continue upskilling in advanced areas like full-stack and AI to grow my career further.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure for ComedK students is around 1 lakh to 2 lakhsper semester. Fee structure for KCET varies from 70K to 1.5K per semester. For Management Quota Fees are around 5lakh+ for year. I came through scholarship Quota from Jammu and kashmir under Pmsss scheme where I am getting free academic education by prime minister of India scheme.

Campus Life

5

The overall campus life at BMSIT is quite vibrant and balanced between academics and extracurriculars. The college hosts cultural fests like Utsaha and technical fests like PhaseShift, usually held around March–April, which bring a lot of energy to the campus. The library is well stocked with course books, reference materials, journals, and also has access to online resources, so it’s very helpful during exams and projects. Classrooms are well maintained with projectors, smart boards, and Wi-Fi, making learning smooth. For sports, the campus has facilities for cricket, football, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton, and inter-college events keep the competitive spirit alive.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility at BMSIT is decent and provides all the basics like a cot, study table, chair, cupboard, and Wi-Fi in each room. Rooms are usually shared (2–3 per room) and are well maintained. The mess food is average – some meals are good, while others are repetitive, but the menu covers both north and south Indian options, so it’s manageable. The registration process for the hostel is simple and done during admission itself. In terms of affordability, the hostel fee is around ?1.4 lakh per year, which includes food and accommodation. If students prefer outside options, there are plenty of PGs and rented rooms in Avalahalli and Yelahanka, with costs ranging from ?6,000–10,000 per month depending on facilities. The locality is safe and has easy access to shops and eateries.

Admission

I chose BMSIT mainly because of its good reputation for placements, approachable faculty, and better campus environment compared to some of the other options I had. I had also applied to colleges like RV, PES, and MSRIT, but couldn’t make it there because of the higher cutoffs. I did get admission offers from mid-tier colleges, but I preferred BMSIT as it struck a balance between academics, affordability, and placement opportunities. The admission process was smooth. For B.Tech/BE, BMSIT accepts students through KCET, COMEDK, and management quota. The most common route is KCET for Karnataka students and COMEDK for others. The cutoff for CSE here through KCET is usually around the 6k–8k rank range, while through COMEDK it’s a bit more flexible. I got admission through [mention your entry, e.g., COMEDK/KCET/PMSSS], and the counseling process was straightforward.

Faculty

5

When it comes to the faculty at BMSIT, the overall quality is quite good. The faculty-to-student ratio is reasonable, usually around 1:20–25 in most core subjects, which ensures that students can get attention when needed. Personally, I liked professors because they made classes more interactive and connected the concepts to real-world applications. These teachers also encouraged projects and practical exposure rather than just sticking to theory, which made learning more engaging. The course structure follows the VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University) curriculum, so it is quite standardized. In terms of the exam system, each semester generally has two internal assessments followed by the end-semester exam. The marking scheme is usually 25 marks for internals and 75 marks for externals. The difficulty level depends on the subject – some exams are straightforward if you prepare well, while a few technical subjects (like certain core CS papers or mathematics) are trickier.

Night Life

5

The nightlife around BMSIT is pretty relaxed and student-friendly. Inside campus, the gym, library, and food court usually close by evening (around 7–8 PM), while the hostel in-time is generally 9:30–10 PM for boys and slightly earlier for girls. The campus itself winds down early, so most late-night fun happens just outside. Popular hangout spots near the college include Kutira (the student hangout zone on campus), and outside you’ll find places like Elements Mall, Orion East Mall, and local cafés in Yelahanka and Hebbal where students chill after classes. Many also prefer food joints and bakeries near the campus for late snacks. The locality is quite safe to roam around at night, especially with friends, though like any city area it’s better not to stay out too late alone.

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.
