Infrastructure & Academic Building

Course Curriculum Overview

4

One of the main reasons to choose ECE was its flexibility like i can go in both fields be it software or hardware which is not possible in CSE. Our curriculum prepares us for real world applications it provides hands on experience with the problems that will be faced in the industry. There is scope to expand in VLSI, IOT and other fields. Some old topics can be replaced as they are outdated, lab infra can be enhanced and project based learning must be implemented. Midsems and Endsems have a huge gap and quizzes happen frequently, i will rate the difficulty as moderate as exams can be cleared easily with proper preparation.

Internships Opportunities

4

The stipend ranges from 25k-1.87L/month with an average of 50k. Many comppanies come like DRDO,blinkit, flipkart, intel, razorpay etc. Projects include developing embedded systems, robotics, work on backend systems, full stack development,UI/UX design and many others

Placement Experience

4

The students become eligible for placements after their sixth semester. Many companies visit PEC some of the top recruiters are Uber,Microsoft,JP Morgan,Goldman Sachs,Texas Instruments,Cisco,American Express and many more. This year the highest package was 61 lpa given to 3 students from circuital branches,6 students received offer of 52 lpa. The average CTC was 13.6 lpa and specifically about ECE it was 15.6 lpa. 456 out of 694 students were placed which is a placement rate of 65.7% including PPOs from companies. My plans would be to get placed with a good package .

Fees and Financial Aid

1. Institute Academic Fees a)Caution money: 8000(refundable) b)One time fees: 11,000 c)Academic fees(per semester): 94,000 In first semester you have to pay some extra fees as security and second semester onwards 94,000. 2. Hostel Fees and Charges a)Caution money: 6000(refundable) b)Hostel charges: 72,000 c)Mess charges:3500(per month) Approximately 1,30,000 per year for hostel stay and mess. 3. Scholarships and Fee Waivers a)Merit based scholarships b)Category based scholarships For more details about scholarships you can contact DAA(Dean Academic Affairs) in the college. So for a general category student the approximate cost including hostel and mess facilities will be approximately 3.7-3.9 lacs per annum.

Campus Life

4

The biggest event in PEC is PECFEST which is held in november which is one of the largest fests of north India. Apart from this TechFest is also held which includes coding hackathons, robotics and startt up pitches. There are many clubs and societies which manage these events. There are a lot of books and journals in the library and they are easily accessible for students. Classrooms are given all facilities like digital boards,ACs and high speed wifi. Labs are also equipped with equipments needed for learning. There are many sports like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton.lawn tennis and courts are also provided for the same. Extracurriculur activities like dance, music, photography have their respected clubs. Their are many clubs and societies run by students whoch build leadership skills, teamwork and social interaction.

Hostel Facilities

3

In first year double sharing rooms are provide with fan,lights,2 chairs and 1 table and 2 beds with almirah provide in the room. From second year single room is also provided. Mess meal quality is decent not very good but is is eatable nothing can beat home cooked food. Registration of hostel is done in hostel only , shivalik hostel is provided in first year. There are many local PGs nearby like sector 15 or sector 11 if you don't want to stay in hostel.

Admission

According to my JEE mains rank the colleges I applied , PEC was the best among them and also chandigarh is a very good location and also not very far away from my home. this was the reason to choose PEC because it was the best i got according to my rank. Pec accepts students based on JEE mains score, students participate in JOSSA and CSAB counselling.A additional criteria of 75% or more in board or top 20 %ile is also taken into account. I think this year cutoff for ECE other state would be 20,000 rank approximately i am not sure about it.

Faculty

4

The student to faculty ratio is approximately 28:1. The faculties are helpful and easily approachable in branches like CSE/ECE, i don't know much about other branches. There are many renowned faculties who are PHD holders from prestigious institutions like IITs,NITs and foreign universities also.So the faculties are quite knowledgeable. There are mainly two exams Midsems and Endsems, quizzes, practicals and labs happen throughout the semester. The exams are not that difficult if you study atleast 1 week before midsems or endsems.I don't know the exact number of people that fail. Yes the course curriculum is almost relevant but there are some outdated subjects like engineering drawing which students don't like.

Night Life

4

Gym closes at 8pm,library is open for 9am to 8pm on working days and during exam days library is open upto 12am at night. Boys in timing is 10pm but is not very strict you can enjoy night life in chandigarh guards are friendly in case of boys but girls have strict in time of 9pm. Outside college some famous spots are sector 11 market, sukhna lake etc. yes locality is safe to roam around
