Course Curriculum Overview

3

The NEP 2020 curriculum has increased the workload for the professors as well as for the students. cramming up the syllabus for 7 different subjects is extremely strenuous. improvements could be done to make the syllabus less theoretical and more practical.

Internships Opportunities

2

internships are usually brought in via the placement cell as well as other societies. stipends offered are not satisfactory in most of the cases, some might also ask you to work for free for LORs and certificates.

Fees and Financial Aid

My course fee at Satyawati College under Delhi University is ?16,185 per year as a general student including tuition caution library examination culture development and placement cell charges I have paid the same amount all three years seniors sometimes pay less first year exam fee comes to around ?2,000 Reserved category students pay only ?40 plus refundable deposits The college offers scholarships through National Scholarship Portal category based funds toppers awards like ?8,000 or ?10,000 one time schemes Girl students with high marks and low income can get ?20,000 through World Brotherhood Organisation Disability and society based scholarships like Indian Society of Accounting and Management and Help the Blind Foundation are also available

Campus Life

3

Satyawati college has several active societies including the Debating society (Abhivyakti), The environment soc (prakriti), the art and culture society etc. The library provides a wide collection of course books. as far as fests are concerned, the student union organizes a college fest every year, besides that there are annual fests by different societies and departments, an annual college function for student awards, and a yearly NCC event. The campus has two computer labs, an EVS lab, and a kabaddi ground. Inter- Department sport matches are also conducted.

Admission

The admission process for DU happens through the CUET UG exam, followed by the CSAS where students fill out their college and course preferences. I had placed satywati college at the seventh position in my preference list and based on my CUET score and eligibility, I was allotted this college. while i had higher preferences, I couldn't make it to those due to high cutoffs in popular north campus colleges. however, Satyawati offered a decent academic environment and the course i wanted, so i confirmed my admission here.

Faculty

4

The faculty at Satyawati College is generally approachable and supportive, with most professors being well-qualified and encouraging student participation through presentations and discussions. The course structure follows the University of Delhi guidelines and is fairly balanced, combining theory with practical components. Evaluation includes internal assessments like class tests and presentations, along with end-semester exams. The marking is fair and students who stay consistent with attendance and submissions usually perform well.

Night Life

2

as far as the hangout spots are concerned, the auditorium and the college ground are the most popular spots. since i belong to the morning shift I've never experienced the nightlife of Satyawati college, the college also doesn't have a hostel so the nightlife is rather quiet with no student interaction whatsoever.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
