Course Curriculum Overview

3

Couse curriculum is outdated and needs to be aligned with students goals at the time. The curriculum right now is vast but really difficult to finish within the time frame and not totally sufficient or recommended for compititive exams like GATE

Internships Opportunities

3

Many on campus opportuinities are available in 3rd year and most of them even result in a PPO. If you are not going for industrial internships, you could do research in college utilising all the available resources

Placement Experience

3

You can sit for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. Before that there are many on campus internship opportuinities which very often result in PPOs. Approx. 70% placement can be expected in each brach. Highest salary can go upto 50+ lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for first year is around Rs.145000 and from 2nd year onwards it'll be somewhat around Rs.130000. There are consessions for SC/ST/PwD and EWS. The fees would be around 30000 annually plus hostel/mess charges. Fees is taken semester wise. SVMCM (for WB students) along with Oasis, Pragati etc. are some of the schlorships I know. They provide upto Rs.60000 annually for Btech students

Campus Life

4

NIT Durgapur is a culturally reach place, you can ecpect a grand fest in each semester. Other than that, there many many clubs and societies conducting events throughout the semesters. The library is filled with all the books you need whether it's technical or purely literature

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels are habitable, not lavish but good enough to survive. Mess food can be very bad or really good depending on the manager and cooks. Ovarall it's a good enough experience considering the cost. Staying in hostels in campus saves alot of hassel during class days

Admission

ECE at NIT durgapur offers better opportuinities than many colleges in West Bengal. Considering the rank in JEE, this was an amazing opportuinity and not to be ignored. For a national level college, it was affordable and it was one of the mail deciding factors

Faculty

3

Theorically the faculty members are highly qualified and experienced but you can stuggle due to outdated teaching methods and rules. You'll find many supportive faculties who would guide and encourage you to persue you dreams

Night Life

4

Rules can be pretty strict but the campus still has a lot to offer. We have two large gounds for any sports and hangout and one gym with different timings for the men and women. We have cafeterias and hangout spots like Wonders Cafe and Nescafe for a quick bite

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course subjects are overall good for all branch. But, if a student is interested in giving competitive exams like GATE, then he must be facing problems as the semester course is more theoretical related and boring, the same old style education system.

The placement situation at IIT KGP is one of th e best among Engineering Colleges in India. With an average package of around 2200000 and overall placement percentage of around 80 (B.Tech+M.Tech). Students become eligible for placement either if they get PPO(Pre Placement Offer) from the company they are interning in in the 5th semester or when they are in the 7th semester when placement season begins. Around 1800 offers and 400 PPOs were made in phase 1 which includes 25 international offers. There were around 400 companies that visited. The highest offer was 21400000. Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum under MAKAUT is quite comprehensive, which is one of the reasons I choose this course. With making the foundation strong in first year with subjects like maths, physics, chemistry and then the core subjects in the later years. In terms of real life application, lab work, project work and projects make us ready for the industry. The syllabus is also alligned with the competitive exams like GATE.

Placement Experience:

Before the placements were good enough like both on-campus and off-campus. The college really tried hard each year for placement offers and as i have heard from the seniors, it was quite good. But in recent times, there are literally no placement offers and even the college has given up. TPO that should manage such oppurtunities are of no good and they are not even trying a bit to bring it some companies for the placement rounds. Now only if you are good enough and know enough to crack off-campus placements, then its good.

The structure of curriculum is not so great. Definitely there is a scope for improvement . We are under MAKAUT university and through job readiness perspective the structure of curriculum is below average. Lots of inclusion of different subjects are needed along with the exclusion of lengthy monotonous subjects which doesn't yield any result.
