Course Curriculum Overview

3

At first when I've chosen this course I was nervous but as the year passed by I'm much more confident now and that is because I want to go in the field of civil services exmas and I was not sure of the inputs I'll be getting form the college faculties but they have been very helpful and I think I've made a right choice. Curriculum itself doesn't provide much if you want be diverse and explore yourself you must have to do it on your on by joining societies engaging with faculties and doing your own research. I think the teaching methods can be improved and the timings of the classes also be improved for good. Exams were conducted on the end of the semester it is usually around 4 months after the start of the semester. The difficulty level of exams is moderate and with this much classes you'll be able to pass the exams easily.

Internships Opportunities

3

DSEC's top recruitment companies were KPMG Global, Amazon, Zomato, Urban Company, D.E shaw group and many more. The internship opportunities offered by college is solely based of one's individual ability and how well they are prepared and how well they are suited for the role, these are the determining factor of internship offered by Campus. The roles offered were Business development and Operations, Subject Matter Expert, Managerial roles too. Various finance related roles, Roles in Technology and Consulting. The highest offered package being 36LPA and with average being 5.5 LPA.

Placement Experience

3

There are camps placement in the college. There is no set rule of eligibility for campus placement by on the preference basis students of final years who considered to be more mature are selected more often. Companies like EY india, Zomato,Urban Company ,Amazon and KPMG has hired interns from the college in the past. The highest package offered was 36 LPA in 2023 with average being 5.5LPA. The profile offered were ranges from student adminstor to social media marketor and in web development team as well. The minimum CGPA for the students who are getting placed is above 7. I will be appearing for UPSC exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees I'm be paying for the course is around 13500 ~ 12000 on yearly basis for unreserved students,it includes tution fees admission fees, development fees, lab fees, library fees and all other charges combined. For the students of reserved categories fees charged will be lower and will lie somewhere around 8000 ~ 7000 for OBC category, 5000~4000 for SC and ST category students. It includes every changeable services and commodities of the college. The extra fees that will be applicable on the students is registration fees which needs to be paid on semester basis and this depends upon the type of selection of subjects by the students, like for subjects with practical aspects they will be charged a fees of 400 per subject and 200 for non practical ones. In addition with 120 ? for the registration. There are several scholarship schemes and financial aid are present in college like merit based fees waivers, Scholarship for the students with special ability, special Scholarship for women and a lot more, students can easily visit the website of Delhi university for detailed information.

Campus Life

4

College offers variety of things ranging form acadmic to cultural opportunities. The annual college fest named RAJNIGANDHA is organised, with the societies fest also, every society have their individual fest which focuses on the core values of the respective society. The library provides range of books and magazine for each and every course and subject offered in the college in addition with research papers and newspaper. Annual sports day is celebrated every year and apart from that college focuses on sports like Volleyball, cricket, basketball, football and many indoor ones too. There are several social groups and clubs is being run by students which has given a way to explore the humanitarian aspects of life too.

Admission

I've scored well in the CUET examinations but due the lack of knowledge in the counselling process I had do choose this college. I have applied for BHU and JNU apart form DU in BHU i was not able to get the desired college and that's why I have chosen this college. Particularly I was not rejected but it's my preference which landed me here and lack of knowledge in the admission procedure. The admission process for my college is you must have to be 12th pass with 50+ marks and you must have given the CUET examination also in the 5 subjects which 2 of them being Language and General test and 3 core subjects in which you've done your class 12th. The cutoff of DU colleges depends upon the ranking and availability of seats.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio of my department is around 1:15. The faculty to student relationship is on very good terms but it is solely based on the teaching and learning. The faculties are easily approachable via physical and digital both methods. Jagbir Singh and Virender Kumar form history department of Dyal Singh evening college are my favourite teachers, because of the way they connect with students. Most of the temporary faculty of my department are not most likable. There are 2 major semester exams on a semester and they are on easy to moderate level, just by paying little attention on class and studying before exams you can easily pass these. In internal assessment there are different exams and tests were arranged by teachers.

Night Life

2

Since college doesn't have any hostel and the location of college is also very sensetive and posh due to this there is not any significant night life. The canteen of the college is very well maintained offering variety of food(veg- non veg) at very reasonable prices. The most famous place near the college is Lodhi Garden and JLN stadium both of these places are at walking distance form the campus.

Placement Experience:

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

DTU because East campus is more known for USME placements revolve around us. Now core companies of our sectors are the ones that deals with finance, insurance or stocks. So nearly 20-30 companies of that space or sector hires over 100 students of BAE every year.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .
