My honest journey at LPU: from classrooms to campus

i chose B.Tech in computer science at LPU because the curriculum includes trending areas like AI, Web development, data structures, machine learning and options for minor specializations. it also gives freedom to choose online courses. the curriculum does help in building a strong base in technical oncepts and the poject based learning system is useful for applying what we learn. however to be honest just following the syllabys is not enough to be industry ready. you need to practise extra on your own. exams are mostly moderate in difficulty. if you attend classes, take notes, and revise regularly, its manageable.

lpu offers multiple internship opportunities especially for students in technical and professional courses like btech and mba. many students get internships either through college placements or by applying off campus with guidance from faculty or career service. some companies that have offered internships to students include Cognizant, tcs, wipro, tech mahindra, bosch, infobytes, internshala etc. the roles offered are web developer intern, data analyst intern, python developer intern, ui/ux intern, software tester, research intern. some examples of kind of projects are web dev projects that includes building a responsive website or web page using html, css js and react. data analyst projects, mobile app development etc.

at lpu students generally becomes eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester depending on the course. for btech students, placements training (like aptitude, communication skills, and coding practice) also begins around that time to help prepare us. lpu gets a good number of companies for computer science and related branches. some well known companies have visited lpu. the placements percentage depends a lot on the students branch and personal skills. in cse its higher about 80-90 percent of eligible students get placed if they have decent academics and communication skills.

my fees of btech cse course is 1 lakh 40 thousand and i got 28 percent scholarship after that it is 1 lakh 800 rupees this is of one semester and of one year it is 2,01,600 at my time the highest scholarship was 30 percent but from this year the scholarship is increased to 60 percent. there is additional examination fee that is 4500 and overall i have to give 105300 of one semester.

lpu hosts a lot of events throughout the year. the two major ones are YouthVibe (cultural fest): usually held around feb-march , it includes dance, music, fashion shows, drama, food stalls, and celebrity performances. its the most fun time on campus. and the other one is One India & One World: celebrated to represent the diversity of india and different countries. students wear traditional dresses, perform folk dances and set up stalls. many hackathons and technical fests are help in lpu campus, events like CodeWarriors, Tech-Tatva and lpu hack are held by school of computer science and engineering. the central library of lpu is so good i personally like it alot it is the best place to study like very spacious and peaceful with a good collection of all the books. lpu also offers a wide range of sports facilities. indoor stadium, gym, swimming pool, badminton courts. students can participate in Zonal, state and national level tournaments. lpu has many student - run clubs like coding ninjas, dancxe and music club, drama club, theatre club, fine art club, literary club, robotics club and many more.

i chose LPU mainly because of better campus, more course options, and flexible curriculum. compared to the others lpu has one the best and largest campus. i appeared for JEE mains but my rank wasn't good enough to get into the NITs or top goverment colleges. i missed the cuttoff by few marks. it was disappointing but i realized that lpu still offered a lot of good opportunities and i decided to make the best of it here. the admission process at lpu is smooth and mostly online. for b.tech you need to pass 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics with minimum percentage that is above 60 percent. then there is lpu's own exam LPUNEST. jee mains marks are also accepted for admission and scholarships.

the faculty to student ratio is decent. in most of my classes there are around 60 students per section, and we usually have 1-2 teachers assigned per subject. so the ratio is manageable. most faculty members are approachable and helpful, especially if you reach out to them afterclass or UMS(the university portal). the course structure is mostly well- planned. there are 2 CA that is continuous assessment one before mid sem and one after mid sem and then there are end sems. the exam patterns include mcqs and written answers.

afterclass most students relax by going to the food courts, playing outdoor games joining club activities, watching movies on laptop in hostel rooms, or just hanging out with friends on hostel rooftops or lawns. these simple moments really help in balancing the study syress and make college life more enjoyable. at night many food courts are open if you wish to eat. there is a mall in lpu capus at closes around 8 at night. library is open till 12 at night. and i guess you are allowed to room in the campus till 11 i am not so sure as i am a dayscholar and i dont live in hostel. but the locality is safe to roam around at night there are bodygaurds everywhere in the campus so it is safe.
