Being a Hansarian

Overall the social life is good in college. The college has a good canteen. One can learn and develop himself/herself in their 3-4 years.

The syllabus for all the courses at the university is the same. Exams take place on semester basis which takes place in April-may and November-December. I feel that they could have given an option to choose any language as a subject in addition to the core subjects.

Yes, college does provide placements and internship opportunities to students. There are a separate Placement Cell and Internship Cell for the purpose of placements and internship respectively. The highest package for the session 2018-19 was 31 LPA while 4.5 LPA being the Minimum.

The college organizes its annual cultural fest every year. Along with the college fest, every department has its own individual fest organized. Apart from this, different speaker sessions, Independence day celebrations, freshers and farewell of each department are held individually.

Hansraj is a semi-government College and not fully government College. Thus, though the fees are not expensive but compared to other DU colleges, the fee is comparatively more. Every course has a different fee structure. It is 20000 on average per year.

College provides a fee waiver to students who are from weak family background and are good in studies. Two awards of Rs.5000 and Rs.3000 are given to the meritorious students of the Enabling Unit every year.

Hansraj College has very active extracurricular societies and other department related societies and cells such as Ecell, Enactus, Classical Dance society, etc. The labs are well equipped. The college is also active in Sports.

There are so many famous alumni from the college one of them being none other than Shahrukh Khan and the other one Ranvijay Singha. Since everyone is away from home thus everyone in not only college but the campus as well is helpful especially the seniors. They are ready to help you or guide you whenever one wants to.

The admission in DU for most of the undergraduate courses is on a merit basis. One is required to take admission on the basis of the cut off the college they qualify. Once you get admission in one college you can further shift to another college if you fulfill the cutoff criteria for the college you are wishing to get admission, in the next cut-off list. I took admission in Gargi first. Then on further release of cut-offs, I changed the college to DRC and then Hansraj at last.

Teachers here are highly qualified. But what depends and matters is whether they are effective in their teaching. Everyone is not that good at teaching. Some seem uninterested. But teachers ready to help when in need. The thing is they don't give much time to students.
