What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the professors expertise in the respective subjects and their passion whilst teaching us those subjects.
- The food at the canteen is amazing and affordable. The catering people are the most efficient and cooperative bunch of folks.
- All the batches of my college are pretty competitive as they consist only of state-wide toppers and the most brilliant minds of the state of Maharashtra.
Dislikes
- Some of the infrastructure and labs are old and not up-to-date.
- The washrooms are in bad condition and must have seen better days.
- The boys to girls ratio is very poor especially in my batch. There is only one girl per ten guys.
Course Curriculum Overview
The part of the curriculum that inspired me to take up this course is definitely applied mathematics as engineering has a lot of math integrated in it and helps the student to improve his/her logic and problem solving skills which are very important in today's job market. Some areas where I'd like the syllabus to improve are NEP related subjects like PPS, Indian Knowledge System etc. These courses are not related to the major but are included because of the New Education Policy(NEP). I feel that most of these courses are a complete waste of time and can be replaced by better courses.
Internships Opportunities
Godrej, Mahindra, Siemens, HDFC, ICICI bank, and major tech companies like opera, samsung, etc. Students often partake in field work during internships especially the students of core branches. The tech companies often select students for internships by conducting hackathons and the winners are selected.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm an open category student, my yearly fees is 85550. My friends who belong to OBC category, have a yearly fees of around 60000. And SC/ST students have a yearly fees of 40000. Mostly this course(mechanical engineering @ VJTI) is a very affordable course. With a bunch of scholarships available for students belonging to the Economically Backward Section, this course can be afforded by almost all sections of society.
Campus Life
The clubs are great here especially VJTI racing. Lots of committees to to keep the students engrossed in a journey of all-round development. But the social life here is okay, as us engineering students are under constant stress of exams and submissions leading to difficulty in enjoying and relaxing.
Admission
I chose this college because this is the top college in Maharashtra for engineering just behind IIT Bombay. I originally got alloted to SPCE, Andheri in the CAP round as my percentile(99.01) did not make the cutoff. But by a miracle in the SPOT round, I luckily got enrolled in this prestigious institute.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1 faculty per 15-20 students as my college has a lot of students compared to the faculty. Most of the faculties maintain an active and a healthy relationship. But some faculties are kinda introverted and hard to approach. But overall the faculties here are 6.5/10 as some professors don't have enough teaching experience and fail to deliver key concepts among their students.
Night Life
Favorite hangout spot in the college is obviously the outdoor canteen. During the night, we go to King's circle and VJTI cafe. Other spots include study space, PG hostel, Gymkhana, open library, cricket ground etc.
