- we also lack connectivity to the other colleges of du and are kind of secluded
Course Curriculum Overview
The rise in mental health problems especially in an Indian society where even acknowledging such problems is considered a tabboo and are often ignored and passed off as irrelevant or unnecessary, I strongly felt the need to take part in creating awareness, as someone who has experienced these problems firsthand. The curriculum of this course in this college comes with a lot of benefits, apart from the syllabus, the exposure, the constant seminars and one on one sessions our faculty, our society provides is truly commendable and helps us in learning about problems in real time, preparing us for the outside world. Frequent class tests are taken by our teachers to make sure we are learning thoroughly. The difficulty of exams i would say is moderate, and carefully crafted to cater towards our naivety.
Fees and Financial Aid
Year wise fee that I paid was around 14k for BA Hons psychology. Fee for the entire course could be anywhere between 40000 to 70000 (3 years duration). Here's a break up of the yearly fee for the year 2024-2025 : Tuition fee - ?180 Other miscalleneous fee - ?14000
Campus Life
Campus life is a bit dead in our college, according to my observation. However there are annual fests that are held, our college has Saptrang, typically held in March or April. There are numerous societies that a student can join including the drama society (Navrang) two dance societies (western and classical) the music society and many more. Our college is very active in sports, be it cricket, kabaddi etc. The college ground is never empty, you can always find some or the other sports match going on. Our library is a bit old, not a lot of journals available in it, this is one aspect that could seriously be improved and should be given priority.
Admission
I applied to almost all colleges offering the course that i have chosen, i got confirmed admissions in majority of them, however I chose this college because of it's location, unique exposure and the faculty. However, some of the colleges I applied to rejected me too, as this course is highly competitive and very few colleges offer this course, I acknowledge that I am not the best and hence I lost my spot in those colleges. The admission process : - Sit for the cuet exam - Portal opens for admission to all du colleges after one or two months, register there. - Admission happens in three phases through the portal ? registration, making and submission of the preference list (course wise and college wise) and lastly the allotment. This whole process takes around 2-3 months.
Faculty
Thr faculty to student ratio in almost all departments is around 6:70 respectively. The faculty to student relationship is highly variable depending on a lotnof factors, some of which include your performance and attitude towards the class, the teachers etc. I really like sir Deepesh Rathore, he teaches statistics and is really patient with the students. Since I am a second semester student I cannot provide more info on which faculty i like as i have not experienced being taught by all of them. However, a few of the teachers who teach the first semester are very rude and highly biased towards some students than others.
Interview Experience
There were no interviews, however every student willing to take admission into DU had to go through an exam called CUET. The syllabus of the exam is the same as the NCERT for the class 12. The questions are often easy, mcq based. I didn't have to prepare for this exam separately as I gave CUET only after 2 months of giving my class 12 exams in 2024, apart from a bit of revision.
Night Life
Our college is in a very secluded place, not a lot of hangout spots other than the small eateries outside the college, the nearest hangour spot which is 4 kilometres away, Kamla Nagar is the hotspot for all DU students and you'll find almost everyone there itself. Our college does not have it's own hostel. As mentioned earlier, our college is in a secluded place, it is not advisable to roam around at night.
Other Applied Colleges
Bethune College | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Psychology)
Lakshmibai College seemed a better option because of it's location, branding and exposure
