Remarks
It was the best part of my life, being a student of that wonderful campus. Every inch of that 80 acres of land have stories to tell about all the learning and fun we had. It was a place were we had the ultimate freedom to become what we want to be. Well maintained infrastructure, great faculty, good facilities, full greenery all around, good connectivity to major town, etc. All I have is lush green memories and well wishes to the college and students. Think about yourselves, think about the future, work towards a balance of life.
Course Curriculum Overview
During my term in the college, it was under MG University syllabus, which is not the case currently. At that time, the curriculum was good with a balance between theory and practical subjects. The exams were conducted in semester basis. The marks will include internal as well as external marks, internal marks are those scored by taking class tests, assignments, seminars etc. External exams are conducted at the end of semester.
Placement Experience
Placements were mostly IT in my time. Internships were not provided in college. We did it outside at a power station in our own expense. It wasn't a paid one. The experience helped me in every way till my current job experience as well.
College Events
Every department in our college got to host events of their own where students from other colleges and institutions could come and participate. Additionally, college union also conducts a techno-cultural fest once a year, named RITU which brings in talents and enthusiasts from various parts of country to participate and explore their skillsets.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since it was a Government Engineering College, the fees were extremely low and most students even got further waivers or scholarships based on their performance or economical backgrounds. During my time, the average fees for a general category student was almost 25% of that of the private institutions.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were several govt scholarships and fee waivers available as part of the state and central government schemes. These were either based on the economical backgrounds or excellence in studies of students. Many of the students had to pay nothing and got further stipends to support their studies
Campus Life
Our college encouraged students to have extra curricular activities and sports. We had a well maintained sports ground, open air theatre, multi gym, and great lab facilities, which helped many of the students to balance their studies and extra curriculum activities.
Alumni/Alumna
College alumni association is a very active part of the college by sponsoring many events and scholarships and even recommending and helping in bringing many companies into the college for on campus interviews and placements.
Admission
The admission to engineering colleges in Kerala was done through state level entrance exam. Since this was a Government run college, it followed the same. I wrote the KEAM 2010 entrance exam and got into merit list. Once the results are out, I went throughthe standard centralized allotment process, where I gave my college and course preferences. And through that allotment process, I made it to this college in Kottayam, Kerala.
Faculty
We had great experienced faculty with good professional knowledge and qualifications. All of the faculty were highly focussed on providing good quality education for the students. The dedication and attitude of faculty are something every college can try to learn from.
