Likes
- St Joseph's College is a very friendly environment with no ragging in the college. Everyone is very friendly with each other
- There are many activities which makes it fun and interesting for all the students and everyone can participate
Dislikes
- For the introverts they seem to have a hard time when it comes to events and festivals as there aren't much room for them to stay alone
- But overall I don't think there's anything that makes us dislike this college
Course Curriculum Overview
Ever since I was a kid I was always interested in studying history. Infact it was my favourite thing to study. I took up this course because It's fun to study history. As an aspirant taking up history helps me to be more aware of the dates and names for the competitive exams. I think there are no improvements or changes to be made in this course as the lectures teaches so well. If you are taking history as your honors then I suggest you to study everyday and not wait for the last moment as this course is very vast and not easy for one night preparation
Fees and Financial Aid
So for the fees it had two installments per semester and 4500 Rs for one installment and 9000 Rs for one semester. There are two semesters in one year so that'll be 18000 for the college fees per year. For college admission it's 12000 and for readmission it's 700 I should say St Joseph's College is the cheapest college in India when it comes to college fees
Campus Life
My overall experience in this college was fantastic. There are so many events in this college which makes it more fun for the students such as Spring Fest, College Week, Student's Council Election and many more. The spring fest is the biggest event in the college which is held around first week of March. This event display a wide variety of cultural aspects from every tribe with every department and small unions and clubs opening stalls. This Event is held for two days. Our college library has a huge amount of books available in the library where students spend their time to seek more knowledge. Every classroom is a smart classroom. There are literally every club you name in St Joseph's College with the students council union being the most heated one . Students are most heated when it comes to Students' council elections
Hostel Facilities
We are provided with a bed, table, chair. When it comes to fooding it's not as great since it's a hostel but we get meat every evening except on Sunday we get egg. For the hostel it's a first come first basis or advance Booking. The hostel admission is around 20000 and the monthly fees are 5000. Hostel admission and fees vary according to the hostel(Private hostel) The hostel I stayed in was two min walk away from college. I'm Jakhama, every building you see is a hostel
Admission
I chose St Joseph's College because by far it is one of the most reputed college in Nagaland with A+ grade college. Apart from St Joseph's College, I applied in Patkai college and Tetso college but St Joseph's College was my first priority. I got selected in all the colleges but since St Joseph's was my first priority I chose this College. The admission process is first come first basis but students with 60+ percentage gets direct admission with below that are in the waiting list. But in my case it was first come first basis since my batch was the corona batch, students who went first got admission.
Faculty
St Joseph's College has a huge population of students with the Political science department being the largest department with over 600+ students and history with 450+ students. Most of the departments have 120 students in each classroom with two sections for two departments. The teaching faculty is super friendly when it comes to teaching us and making us understand things we don't understand. They try their best to mould us into a better student. While some departments have strict faculty where a fine of Rs 500 maximum is taken as a fine for bunking the classroom as attendance is very important for the students. The total marks for each paper is 100 with 70 being the external and 30 marks for internal. For the internals, 10 marks is taken as exam, 10 for assignments and project and 10 for class test or through some other activities. There are two exams per semester with one internal exam and the other one is the End Semester Exam. Since St Joseph's College is an autonomous college it has its own syllabus and the students seen to love it until NEP was adopted.
Night Life
St Joseph's College has a huge campus with two or three cafeteria in the college campus and a lot of cafeteria outside the college campus. Since the college campus is huge students can stay anywhere to have their lunch. Since I stayed in a private hostel I don't know much about the main hostel but there is one main boys hostel inside the college campus and three girls hostel. Since St Joseph's College is located in Jakhama Village, students can't really enjoy nightlife as the Jakhama Village students union are very strict about night timings.
Other Applied Colleges
