Likes
- College campus has sufficient space and there is a big play ground for sports and other extra curricular activities and there is physical health department also.the college also has a gym which is free for students.
- Our civil department is very fine in terms of it's infrastructure there is all facilities in the classroom and in the department as well. There is sufficient benches and desks for students and projectors in each class
- The faculties are good enough in their fields. They do teaches and covers up the syllabus before sem exam.they are always ready to help students in any study matters and lab faculties are also good
Dislikes
- Placements related issues are there for civil department now a years. We get less placements compared to other departments and salary package is also not that much high which causes less students to attract in pursuing civil engineering degree.
- The food from the college hostel other than pg is worst. I have friends from ladies hostel they used to tell that food quality is poor and hygiene also is somewhat poor. That has to be improved I wish.
Course Curriculum Overview
There is no sufficient time for students to prepare for the sem exam. The schedule is very tight and there is two series exam we have to write within this limited period. A sem is said to have six months but we get maximum four months.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies that offer internships in gect like accenture, tcs, infosys, bosch, oracle, reliance, mahindra ,huawei etcthr other companies that have visited gec are hipe, samsung , shahin etc which are good
Placement Experience
Placements are less comparatively for civil department considering previous years. There are students who have got placements in companies with only 17k per month. So my plan is to prepare for psc exams for getting a government job rather than waiting for a placement from the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 10000 for joining the college. The exam fees for sem 1 was around 6700. There is egrantz scholarship for students with income lower than 1lakh and other scholarships also.the fees for less compared to other students for students who come under sc/st categories
Campus Life
There is library for each department and there is one central library also. The college gives enough priority to extra curricular activities and sports. There is a physical health department and gym for students. There are many clubs and gect is active in social life of every students and there are so many opportunities also.
Admission
I applied for thrissur engineering college for civil engineering first then I have applied for engineering college trivandrum but my first choice of gect and I got into that college in 2nd allotment. In the first allotment I got seat in nss palakkad for same civil engineering
Faculty
There are plenty of faculties in several departments who are specialized in their own subjects and they are willing to provide guidance for the students. I liked raghu sir from physics department,he's the head of physics department his teaching skills are mind blowing. There are 2 series exam and one sem exam in a sem.
Night Life
There is a gym which is available from 4pm-6pm in the evening and in ladies hostel the time to reach the hostel is at 10:30 but in men's hostel there is no such limitations. Nadumuttam in college is very attractive and students use to sit there with friends to spend leisture times. Gect is quite attractive in those things
