Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am currently pursuing bachelor of technology in mechanical engineering at National Institute of Technology srinagar.I don't choosed it because of percentile in jee mains but it is a reputed course here at nit Srinagar.

Internships Opportunities

2

I just passed 1st semester so, I don't have any knowledge of internship opportunities but I once asked a third year senior, and even he didn't know about it.Conclusion:- There are internship opportunities but not that much.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for placements 7th semester onwards , btw I am not sure about it .In 2023 Vedanta steel visited our college and offered 14 lakhs per annum to 84 students, but companies like this doesn't visit often because of remote location and connectivity issues.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing Btech at NIT Srinagar, and after spending some time here, I have experienced both good and bad aspects of the college. Campus is beautiful surroundings by mountains and dal lake. Fees=327500 for 4 years including hostel and mess if income is less than 1 lakh yearly. Above 5 lakhs per annum, you have to pay more than 8 lakhs. Various gov scholarships on nsp are available ,PM YASHASHVI is the best among them if you fall under that category. Also you can apply for private scholarship like reliance foundation.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is not that good specially after 2nd semester onwards, You will feel like you explored every area of campus because campus size is just 67 acres.Techwaganza is the annual tech fest which is the biggest fest in j&k. Rang-e-chinaar is another fest here.

Hostel Facilities

3

In a room made for 3 persons, they put 5 students there.Five students have to share three cupwards which is also in bad condition. Tables and chairs provided in name of furniture are also damaged.Mess food is not edible sometimes.Even if you just eat veg but still mess fees will be same as non veg eaters, BTW they provide non veg 4 times in a week

Admission

In the second round of CSAB councelling, I was alloted btech in mechanical engineering at nit Srinagar which was my 2nd preference. I choosed it because after all, it is an autonomous Institute of National Importance and so it is affordable.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is arround 1:15.Some faculty members are good and approachable while most of them just teach for the sake of it.There are 2 semesters per year which is not hard to pass with approx 10% students failing to paas them.

Interview Experience

4

No interview is needed for admission. You just have to clear the Joint Entrance Examination Mains and once you get a decent percentile or rank then, apply for it via joint seat allocation authority or CSAB councelling

Night Life

2

There is no night life for 1st year students because students can't go out of their hostels after 9:30 pm but still people enjoy here , horror movies with friends at 3 am .There is not much you can do even outside hostel because of the Cold weather.

Placement Experience:

Students from the uth and 8th semester are eligible for placements. Companies offering packages about 10 lakhs come in the college. Out of 10 ,at most 5 students get the placement easily from the campus.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Just one company visits and that too isn't up to the mark. Its PISOFT. The highest average package in our campus was 6lpa earlier. Now that also doesn't exist. We have to go for off-campus placement. Only 4 students out of a batch of 63 students. After getting the degree.I will apply in a company for a job via off-campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course of CS cyber security is one of the leading course and need of today's modern world. Cyber crime is increasing with each passing day so demand for such course will never go down. For real world application students are given practical knowledge with well maintained computer labs. Students are motivated by organising competitions like hackathon, Techfiest etc so that they work on innovating new ideas. Teaching methods are very practical. Every topic is taught keeping thought of future competitive exam. More time is given on teaching the skills be it coding or assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as I completed my diploma in mechanical so I pursue this and talking about the faculty-student ratio, it is quite good as 2 teachers are there for every subject, so in a recent update, they made it compulsory for every teacher to have an M.tech degree and the teaching method is quite good and some of them are really good, so the exams were taken by Jammu University, the timing of sessional exams are taken every 1 and half months and it is done twice in the semester but the result took a lot of time.

Remarks:

It was the only state government run engineering college. So it was pretty obvious that the cut-off and competition to get into GCET was more than any other private college in the state. Right from the reputed and experienced faculty to the soft fee structure of the institute, it was a go to college for me or anybody else in the state. Upon joining, i opted for the mechanical engineering course because that had been my dream course, if i was to go for engineering.

Remarks:

College is quite good academic-wise but there is a lack of sports facilities. And the hostel facilities and the college fee are quite expensive. The college infrastructure is quite good and mesmerizing. College teachers are really very helpful.
