Course Curriculum Overview

5

The job scope for Applied electronics and instrumentation is vast. Since only Government Engineering College Kozhikode and College of engineering Travancore has this course, the competition is a little less. Many big companies are ready to recruit those who have degree in Applied electronics and instrumentation.

Internships Opportunities

4

I haven't gone on any internships yet. But from what my seniors are saying, the internship is very educational and enjoyable. The stipend is average. Neither good nor bad. So I will say the intership is good.

Placement Experience

4

Applied electronics and instrumentation has a good record for placements. The number of graduates who got placement is more in Applied electronics and instrumentation than any othe course in Government Engineering college Kozhikode.

Fees and Financial Aid

You have to pay a course fee of 9650 Rupees per year for four years. In addition to this there is exam fee about 2500 Rupees per semester. The E-grants scholarship is available for those whose family annual income is below 400000. For those who get E-grants scholarship, the course fee is completely waivered. They only need to pay exam fee every semester. Since this is a government college the cost is more on the affordable side.

Campus Life

4

There are many clubs to take part in this college. My personal favourite is the Movie club. Aside from that there are various other clubs like NSS, Science club to name a few. GECK also has teams for various sports too.

Admission

I didn't apply to any other colleges. Since this college was close to my house and this course was very good, I didn't gave any thought to any other course or colleges. This course and college is a hidden gem.

Faculty

3

The faculties are very helpful. You can approach them at anytime with doubts. They are always ready to help you. There is a total of 8 semesters in B.tech. Each semester you 3 exams. 2 internal exams and one university exam. You need a minimum of 24 marks out of 60 marks to pass in the university exam.

Night Life

4

The campus starts at 9.30 am. There are many places to hangout. There is also a good gym facilty to workout. The college also has a good library with a vast collection of books realted to engineering.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

Placements cells are supportive in terms of networking with different companies and are readily active for the students competing in getting internships and placements. The college has a tie up with different companies like Infosys , Wipro , Deloitte , IBM , NVIDIA , Deshaw Private Limited etc. Students become eligible from semester 5 onwards for on campus placements. The offers made by these companies are 8 LPA to 9 LPA by deloitte , innfosys , and IBM but the highest package is being offered by Deshaw and NVIDIA that is 60 LPA and 47 LPA. The average package is around 11 LPA and the percentage of students getting placed are above 80%. My plan after getting the degree is to work for an IT Company to get the hands on knowledge about what the current technologies demand and get experienced in that and work further upon it.
